Job Description

The main job of  Aircraft Apprentice - Cat B1 or B2 is to Learn on the job and accumulate as much experience and practical knowledge as possible, work as perthe guidelines and instructions, to develop decision making, analyzing and troubleshooting skills while on the job,  and to deliver work to the highest possible standards and the best of his abilities. The Aircraft Apprentice - Cat B1 or B2 integrates with the Business through a structured Rotation, Coaching and Mentoring program. The Aircraft Apprentice - Cat B1 or B2 will proactively engage with Business and be responsible for the delivery of specific business related assignments in line with the Apprenticeship programme objectives. The programme ensures the successful integration, readiness and development within the airline technical and engineering business.

Accountabilities

Operational

  • Responsible for effectively managing day-to-day tasks in line with the Aircraft Apprentice - Cat B1 or B2 ship Programme objectives.
  • Plans and implements tasks in order to deliver each business related assignment on time and to the highest quality
  • Develop key stakeholder relationships  across the business in order to effectively communicate and work collaboratively together to achieve results
  • Integrates successfully into Company culture and values through engagement and proactive involvement in area of rotation and assignments
  • Ensures the business is informed of all activities pertaining to business related assignments
  • Accountable for understanding all Company policies and procedures
  • Responsible for maintaining all documentation pertaining to business related assignments as per Company policies and procedures
  • Responsible for setting monthly Performance Appraisal evaluation meetings with Section and Manager OJT/Practical training
  • Completes  the  evaluation  forms  as required to  ensure  learning  objectives     and value  behaviors  are consistently being met in  an efficient and effective  manner.
  • Proactively    works   in   partnership with assigned Engineering Staff  and  the Manager OJT/Practical training to achieve the objectives set out   in the   training    plan should the apprentice not meet expectations or agreed performance  objectives.
  • Responsible    for reporting any issues related   to company policy   and corporate ethics of apprentice to the Manager OJT/Practical training.

Additional Accountabilities

  • Ensure the Rotation Programme Logbook has been kept update with daily work assignments.
  • It is an imperative part of the programme that Aircraft Apprentice - Cat B1 or B2 develops the hands-on experience to enable them to fulfil the responsibilities of a Licensed Aircraft Engineer.
  • The Aircraft Apprentice - Cat B1 or B2 will be assigned  to Technical  Sections for the Job Training and will be a member of the Section and one of the section's working team.
  • The Aircraft Apprentice - Cat B1 or B2 will be assigned  to work and work with  experienced  staff so that he/she gains the hands-on experience required to understand the systems and structures they are working on.
  • The Aircraft Apprentice - Cat B1 or B2 shall carry out tasks in the same  manner as Licensed Aircraft engineers, and will not act as observer, but will physically carry out tasks assigned to him/her under the observation and supervision of experienced Licensed Aircraft Engineers.
  • The Aircraft Apprentice - Cat B1 or B2 will be performing tasks from beginning to end, including the receiving of assignments, data,  and equipment required to fulfil the tasks.
  • The Aircraft Apprentice - Cat B1 or B2 evaluation and attendance monitoring will be carried out at one month Interval by the Section Manager and the Manager OJT/Practical training.

Data Protection

  • Ensure that any personal data obtained and processed is treated in accordance with data protection principle followed by the group as well as applicable group policies and procedures on data protection and information security.
  • Consult the group’s data protection officer(DPO) Office prior to making decisions on the processing, storage, retention and deletion of professional data with regards to responding to subject access requests (SARs), conducting data protection impact assessment (DPIAs) and identifying any personal data breach. If there is no policy and procedure that provides adequate guidance.

Operational Safety

  • Ensure full awareness of work health and safety requirements and expectations in order to minimize health and safety risks for self and colleagues.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, security, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the operation to guarantee employee safety, security, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality service with a responsible environmental attitude.
  • Take a direct and personal interest in reported injuries, incidents, near misses and hazards to ensure that appropriate reporting, investigation and response is being achieved.

Essential

Aircraft  Maintenance  Engineering  Diploma  graduates  can apply to  enter  the  Technical  Apprenticeship Programme as Aircraft Apprentice - Cat B1 or B2 role (Temporary Grade) for a period  of 24 months if they meet the following criteria:

  • The candidate should have studied and completed  high school studies from a High School in  Qatar or should have obtained high school certificate  recognized by the State of Qatar with at least 70% overall  High School  average
  • Successfully graduated with either QCAA/EASA CAT B1 or B2 Certificate of Recognition and diploma.
  • Have a minimum IELTS of 6, with not less than 5.5 in each part of the exam (writing/reading/listening/speaking).

Previous Experience:

  • Entry level - no prior job-related work experience required

Essential

  • Ability to engage with a diverse workforce in multicultural environment.
  • Experience in meeting objectives and delivering on time projects and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to defined tight timescales.
