Job Description

To safely coordinate arrival and departure below wing activities of the aircraft, by leading and briefing loading teams on the handling requirements and ground support activities and ensure alignment with the SLA, standards operating procedures and highlights any potential handling constraints. Undertakes aircraft pushback operations.

Generic Accountabilities:

 Policies and Procedures:

  • Implements departmental policies, processes, procedures and provides instructions to the team on the day of operations
  • Implements day-to-day operations assigned and ensures compliance with the established standards and procedures

 Safety:

  • Ensures that safety briefings are conducted regularly while intervening when there is risk exposure, role model safe behaviours and follows up on corrective actions
  • Ensures safety of staff and that they have the knowledge, and confidence to work safely by providing support, direction, being a role model for the desired safety behaviours

 Supervisory:

  • Leads team of staff on the day of operations, undertaking all loading and equipment operation activities to safely handle all arrival & departure flights efficiently
  • Coaches staff / team members in order to develop staff competencies, ensuring optimum performance.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Conducts briefings (commencement of Turnaround) to ensure staff are aware of any particular information related to the aircraft they will handle.
  • Supervises the turnaround process to ensure availability of resources on time, accurate operating process in line with the safety standards
  • Communicates regularly with team members and service partners to ensure all flights are handled in a timely manner and any problems are overcome efficiently
  • Supervises the loading process to ensure that the aircraft is loaded in line with the load sheet, Loading Instruction Report Form (LIRF) and any related documents for arrival, departure and turnaround flights.
  • Coordinates and communicates regularly with Customer Service Team Leaders with regards to boarding status, any passenger offload and figures to ensure that the final load-planning information is updated and accurate
  • Escalates any Ground Services Equipment (GSE) serviceability concerns to the manager on shift
  • Coordinates with cockpit and cabin crew to obtain boarding clearance and fuel figures and ensures that this information is passed to the boarding team and load control.
  • Liaises closely with Lead Equipment Operator to ensure loading activities continue uninterrupted during the periods he is coordinating with crew.
  • Is responsible to handle freighter aircraft lower deck and below the wing activities independently with the support of a Lead Equipment operator.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High School with a Certificate ( 12 years of schooling) OR Diploma
  • High School with a certificate: 4-6 years of experience in in ground handling / aircraft handling or customer services
  • Diploma degree: 2-4 years of experience in ground handling / aircraft handling or customer services

Knowledge and Skills:

  • UAE Driving Licence in order to gain ADP to operate equipment
  • Fundamentals of Load Control
  • Proficient understanding of Airline Requirements
  • Advanced understanding of the Turnaround Process
  • Proficient understanding of Customer SLA
  • Proficient understanding of dnata airport operations KPIs
