Team Overview and job responsibilities

United Airlines is set to strategically grow its fleet size and route network in the near future. The goal of this team isto empower stakeholders across operating teams with timely and relevant data driven insights to help meet the challenges of scaling the airline, while continuing to maintain dependability and customer focus.

  • Support various strategic United Next initiatives to help the airline prepare for expansion
  • Assist in analysis, reporting and framework development for company leaders on a variety of business problems
  • Execute solutions using data analysis, data mining, business intelligence, and optimization tools
  • Leverage data from a variety of sources to analyze business performance, identify areas of opportunity, and provide actionable insights
  • Assist in creating and developing presentations for United leadership and external stakeholders                 
  • Assist in continuously developing improved analysis methodologies

This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field like Math, Engineering, or related field
  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field of study or MBA preferred
  • At least 2 to 4 years of experience in analytics
  • Airline experience or knowledge of airline operations preferred
  • Proficient in using database querying tools and able to write complex queries and procedures using Teradata SQL and/or Microsoft TSQL
  • Familiar with reporting and data visualization tools – Spotfire/ Tableau/ Power BI
  • Able to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise and actionable manner 
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of R or Python preferred
