At our Dubai MRO Centre located in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), we are specialists in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft systems. An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Value Stream Manager (AVSM) - Components for our Dubai MRO Centre in Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai. This site is part of Interiors, Services & Support, a global business unit of Collins Aerospace. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a diverse team.

Purpose / Objective

  • Manage production and technical support functions to meet target performance goals.
  • Lead, plan and administer/organize all phases of production activities.
  • In this role as AVSM, the successful candidate will have Component’s responsibility for:

Essential Responsibilities

General

  • Ensure that all repair and overhaul work is processed within customer agreed or contracted turnaround times, maintaining high quality standards and cost targets.
  • Establishing objectives, policies, standards and production schedules to ensure quality and cost effectiveness, and responsible for production planning documentation.
  • Serve as the liaison between customers and the repair station on critical issues as well as between the repair station and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Other special projects and assignments as needed.

Financial & Business

  • Support his/her department’s financial metrics within his/her responsibility area.
  • Responsible for material flow, monitoring and providing proper manning levels, adequate facilities and timely scheduling of repairs through the shops.

People

  • Supervises Cells Leaders in the expediting of spares / materials, preparing production programs, maintaining inventory control and keeping records of customer requirements.
  • Lead actions to increase employee engagement and reduce employee attrition.
  • Lead his/her team in accordance with Collins “Code of Ethics,” “Policy Statement on Business Ethics” and related policies and be role model to the team.
  • Coaching and leading his/her team to be responsible for promoting actively an ethics-based business culture in his/her organization, ensuring that all associates are aware of and fully comply with Collins “Code of Ethics” and related policies.
  • Support his/her employees’ development through performance/career management systems.

Quality/CORE

  • Leading and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) culture and initiatives.
  • Reduce COPQ to yearly target and ensure compliance to all quality audits.
  • Effectively respond to all CARs in timely fashion.
  • Achieve CORE objectives.
  • Deliver defect free products, zero QA escapes.
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements.
  • Participation in the CORE Operating System.
  • Increasing CORE proficiency level.

Customer Focus

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers to ensure that the business meets customer’s requirements.
  • Seek resolutions to customer issues and enquiries and respond to within 24 hours.
  • Arrange customer site visits and hospitality events when it is necessary.

Environmental Health & Safety

  • Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the EHS policy and management system, the importance of conforming to EHS policies and procedures, and consequences of failing to comply with EHS policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of EHS risks and impacts of work activities and the benefits of improving EHS performance.
  • Reduce recordable and reduce lost time incidents.
  • Contribute to a safe & healthy workplace by:
  • Complying with EH&S requirements & safe workplace practices when performing duties with due concern for all other persons.
  • Support improvements to eliminate or reduce workplace risks.
  • Immediately reporting & responding as appropriate to any hazardous condition.
  • Actively participating in any treatment or rehabilitation programs that support an early return to work, after an injury and illness.

Experience / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or a related field is strongly preferred with 5-10 years of maintenance experience in Civil or Military Aviation.
  • Experience in operations, finance, and commercial practices strongly preferred.
  • Strong lean enterprise or six sigma experience preferred.
  • Proven experience of achieving targets in a dynamic manufacturing or production environment.
  • Good knowledge of production, operations, and materials planning, practices, and processes.
  • Strong teamwork and leadership abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, and work under pressure in time-sensitive situations.
  • Knowledge of aerospace, military and defense industries strongly preferred.
  • Experience with global activities, including operations within different cultures and styles.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with experience in leading a team.
  • Ability to work in ambiguous settings with minimal direct management.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - effectively communicate and work with all customers and levels of the organization.
  • IT and advanced computer skills. Knowledge of SAP is an advantage.
  • Fluent in English; Arabic is an added advantage.
