Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) is based in Bangalore, India and is engaged in the development and support of advanced aerospace and aviation technologies, products, and services. Boeing Research & Technology-India is part of Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC, based in Bangalore) focused on innovation, and developing and transitioning new technologies in support of Boeing products and services. We work across the complete product lifecycle of Boeing's commercial aircraft, military aircraft, rotorcraft, space vehicles, UAVs, and advanced vehicle prototypes.

The Boeing Research & Technology India team has an immediate opening for Associate Equipment Simulation Engineer. The selected individual will develop solutions for Kinematic equipment, trajectory planning of automated manufacturing systems employed in assembly of commercial airplane, defense, industrial and space products. He/She/They will support in projects which involves development of engineering solutions to increase the operational efficiency of manufacturing facilities (OEE), improve/optimize the productivity of Boeing operations and manufacturing, improve process capability (Cpk). In addition, the candidate will support senior members of the team in achieving the overall vision and direction of Boeing’s Research and Technology development in the field of Advanced Production Systems.

This position will be based out of Bangalore, India and will work with other colleagues located in India, United States and other global locations. This position will report to the Manager – AI, Analytics & Automation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct dynamic simulation studies and verify functional requirements for automated production equipment.
  • Develop and implement trajectory planning algorithms for close chain kinematic objects and inverse kinematic devices.
  • Develop control and estimation algorithms for complex dynamical systems such as robot / automated equipment R&D projects.
  • Create different equations based on the motion and generate path planning methods to control the autonomous equipment.
  • Develop concepts using advanced techniques for work and tool holding devices.
  • Model tuning for model behavior validation with real-time system.
  • Work on discrete event simulation, human factor engineering
  • Responsible to find possible working solutions independently.
  • Carryout mechanical design work including simulation and design verification. Perform detailed engineering activities on Part Modelling, Product Modelling, Assembly Design, Part Design, Kinematics, simulation of Robot and other automated equipment Simulation, BOM, etc
  • Coordinate with Production Engineering team\SMEs to gather user requirement and define To-Be business process in 3DExperience DELMIA and MPP suite.
  • Propose new enhancement delivery and own existing 3DExperience DELMIA business processes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative development environment (Agile-SCRUM)
  • Maintain quality and timely deliveries.
  • Identify areas for improvement/optimization for product, process and tooling designs and provide simulation analyses reports

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors Engineering degree, Preferably Mechatronics/ Industrial/ Production, Instrumentation & control, Mechanical.
  • 6+ years of overall work experience with 4+ years in Digital Mockup studies/Digital Manufacturing /Assembly and Virtual factory.
  • Self-starter and strong desire to work on exploratory assignments involving physics based simulation
  • Motivation for innovation & new solution development.
  • Ability to Work with cross functional teams across organization.

Desired Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in Digital Mockup studies (DMU Navigator, DMU space analysis, DMU fastening review, DMU Optimizer), and Enovia.  
  • Sound knowledge on Principles and Workplace safety systems.  
  • Expertise in one or more ROS packages (Gazebo, Moveit, Rviz)  
  • Must have Hardware Understanding: Encoders, motors, sensors, load cells, different multicore controllers.  
  • Expertise in ABB robot’s and its Profi-safe and multi-move packages, development and integration of different custom applicator heads.  
  • Ability to support MBOM, Digital process planning and simulation solution and with working knowledge on DELMIA R28-2018 or higher version,  
  • Fair knowledge about general Kinematics/Dynamics & Mechanisms - MBD - Multi Body Dynamics (Adams).  
  • Exposure to dynamic and steady state Modelling/Simulation skills using object oriented modelling tools like Modelica/Dymola, AMEsim, Simscape or similar simulation environment.  
  • Knowledge of Dynamics & Controls, Modelling & simulation, Matlab, Algorithm validation visual guided robotics (ultrasonic, RADAR, LIDAR, camera systems, sensor fusion or computer vision) is a plus.

Typical Education & Experience:

  • Technical bachelor's degree with typically 4+ years related work experience. Master's degree preferred but not a requirement
