Job Description

Key Requirement for the Position

  • 1 Co-operate with other members of the crew to ensure the highest possible standard of efficiency and safety during flights.
  • 2 Be fully familiar with the locations and use of the emergency equipment and other emergency procedures
  • 3 Be fully conversant with in-flight and ground duties
  • 4 Be well groomed and presentable at all times
  • 5 Handle carefully all company property entrusted to their care
  • 6 Responsible for the checking, safeguarding and return of all Company equipment and unused catering supplies
  • 7 Carry all documents pertaining to a flight
  • 8 Must carry with them whenever on duty the following current and valid documents:
  • 9 Airport Entry Pass, Crew Competency Card, Passport and valid visa (if applicable), Company ID card, Announcement Handbook, QRH, Ranp Jacket and Flash Light as prescribed by the company, Crew Bag/personal items.
  • 10 Responsible for validity of his documents and their timely issue, renewal and extension
  • 11 Ensure that under the overall authority and responsibility of the Commander is maintained.
  • 12 Will be under the disciplinary control and supervision of the PIC during flight. They shall work under the SCC.
  • 13 Responsible for the comfort, welfare, safety and security of cabin operations at all times, with particular attention to elderly, physically/ mentally challenged persons, UNM’s, mothers with infants and children
  • 14 Responsible for the cleanliness and tidiness of passenger cabin, toilets and galleys of the aircraft
  • 15 Attend and actively participate in briefings before each flight
  • 16 Undergo pre-flight medical check
  • 17 Read recent circulars, announcements, and updates put up on the notice boards
  • 18 Conduct pre-flight checks of all safety equipment before each flight
  • 19 Prepare and check the catering, cabin and galley before and during each flight
  • 20 Report any deficiency noticed in the cabin, emergency equipment, cabin cleanliness, catering and merchandise stocks etc. to the SCC
  • 21 Prepare the cabin by opening air vents, window shades and checking passenger seat belts and seat pockets for safety instruction cards, sickness bags, magazines etc.
  • 22 Take assigned boarding positions and Assist in passenger boarding and deplaning
  • 23 Greet passengers, help them stow their luggage and check that they are seated safely
  • 24 Ensure all baggage is properly stowed and all aisles, cross aisles and emergency exits are clear of all baggage / obstructions.
  • 25 If required by the captain/ ground personnel, assist SCC in taking the head count and ensure that the number of passengers tallies with the number on the trim sheet
  • 26 Ensure that exit row seating policy is complied with the related CAR
  • 27 Follow all applicable regulations and precautions during refueling.
  • 28 Ensure no smoking in the aircraft. Be vigilant that passengers don’t smoke in the toilets
  • 29 Monitor use of mobile phones and portable electronic devices as per Govt. regulations.
  • 30 Ensure that briefing of Special Handling passenger Blind Passenger, Physically Challenged Passenger & Briefing for Persons occupying Crew Jump Seat is also done // with other briefings mentioned.
  • 31 Ensure that all doors are armed and disarmed on instructions from the flight deck and pass the check on to the SCC
  • 32 Demonstrate aircraft emergency procedures and safety features to passengers in your area of responsibility
  • 33 Play / Make safety and service announcements as required.
  • 34 Ensure passengers are seated and strapped for take-off, landing and prepared emergency and whenever the seat belt sign is switched on.
  • 35 Ensure trays, glasses etc. are cleared from the cabin and flight deck before take-off and landing and as and when instructed by the captain
  • 36 Secure cabin and galley for take-off and landing
  • 37 Cabin crew must take their designated seats and fasten seat belt and safety harness during take-off , landing and whenever instructed by the captain
  • 38 Perform silent review for every take-off and landing
  • 39 Ensure that they do not leave the aircraft at transit / turnaround stations.
  • 40 Provide passengers service on board as per company policies and procedures
  • 41 Conduct sale of food and merchandise on board
  • 42 In case flight is delayed on ground, carry out any service including meal service if necessary as per SOP and/or as directed by the captain.
  • 43 Check lavatories periodically for cleanliness and/or safety
  • 44 Administer first aid and deal with any emergencies which arise on board.
  • 45 Immediately notify the SCC/ Captain of any suspicious article found in the aircraft or carried by passengers and any unruly and/or suspicious behavior or act.
  • 46 Keep the SCC/ Captain informed of any discrepancy, cabin incident/accident, and /or any fire, smoke, unusual sounds or other abnormal situations are observed in the cabin
  • 47 Ensure all mandatory reporting is done as per safety requirements.
  • 48 Ensure that no unauthorized person has access to the flight deck
  • 49 Perform their duties as laid down and directed during emergency situations like fire, smoke, crash landing and ditching
  • 50 Prepare the cabin should an evacuation be necessary
  • 51 Carry out evacuation and post evacuation duties if required
  • 52 Ensure Management is kept informed of any incidents and submit incident reports
  • 53 Ensuring all defects are logged and informed to engineer, Pilot, SCC and the Asst. Base Manager for immediate action and verification
  • 54 At night halts or layovers maintain discipline and decorum at all time.
  • 55 At all times be conversant with the regulations and instructions as outlined by the company and DGCA and carry out all duties allotted by superiors
  • 56 All allied and ancillary duties
  • 57 Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
