Aerodynamic design and analysis of single engine aircraft using low to high fidelity tools to estimate aircraft aerodynamic characteristics.
Prepare Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) external simulations to model how geometry will perform
Be able to understand and design for various flight conditions and suggest solutions to optimize flight performance.
Perform CFD analysis of internal structures such as battery pack, motors and other equipment that require thermal management or fluid flow.
Collaborate with Design and Structural analysis teams to determine various aerodynamic loads and optimize aerodynamic performance
Identify and develop creative solutions to resolve engineering/styling/aerodynamic conflicts
Strong system level thinking and ability to give design suggestions based on simulation results.
Design parts, prepare for, and conduct, model scale and full scale wind tunnel tests, and provide feedback
Produce high quality documentation of work assigned.
Support various developmental milestones including prototype, pre-production, and production build events
When required be able to design aerodynamic surfaces using CATIA/ Solid works
Preferred skills and experience:
Aerospace/Mechanical Engineer with minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience.
Strong fundamental understanding of aerodynamics and heat transfer
Experience in complex CFD analysis using open source or commercial CFD tools.
Hands on experience in complete CFD process (Pre-processing, Solver setup and Post processing) for external aerodynamics and heat transfer applications.
Able to create water-tight geometry and high-quality hybrid or structured meshes for external aerodynamics flow simulations.
Good experience with computational fluid dynamics software (CFD): Preferably ANSYS-Fluent/CFD
Familiarity in any one of the programming languages such as MATLAB/Python/Shell to automate the work process and post processed data.
Preferable experience in Linux environment with shell scripting.
Experience in wind tunnel experiments is desirable.
Experience in CAD modelling using Solid works or any design tool is desirable.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
