Job Description



The DFO is responsible to plan, direct, organize and manage the Company Flight Operations which includes operational safety, network and crew logistics, pilot management, flight technical services and airports services. The DFO will carry the responsibility of operational control and all safety aspects. The DFO must ensure maintaining the Company's mission of providing the safest, most reliable, and convenient air transportation for their passengers in accordance with relevant policies and procedures. Operationally he must have the knowledge and understanding of the regulations to efficiently manage the flight operations department.

Appointment and Reporting Lines

The DFO is appointed by the ACE. However, his appointment is subject to GACA approval. The DFO has overall responsibility and is accountable for ensuring operations are conducted in accordance with conditions and restrictions of the Operator Certificate (OC), and in compliance with applicable GACA regulations and standards of JASA

Description/Tasks

Assigned duties and responsibilities of the Director of Flight Operations are:

  • Support Jet Aviation in establishing a GACA approved flight operation under GACAR Part 125
  • Take part in audits/inspections conducted by GACA or other authorities and represent the interests of Jet Aviation
  • Take part in trainings at Jet Aviation in Zurich, Switzerland as required
  • Establish and maintain liaison with the GACA and other regulatory agencies.
  • Formulate policies and procedures necessary to maintain the highest level of safety in all flight and ground operations.
  • Maintain familiarity and ensure compliance with the contents of the GOM, Operations Specifications, GACA regulations and other state and local regulations that may pertain to GACAR Part 125 operations.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient conduct of GACAR Part 125 operations.
  • Issue GACA bulletins and JASA operations bulletins necessary to further safety, security and/or efficient flight operations.
  • Issue crew and staff bulletins to notify change in equipment and operating procedures, including each known change in the use of navigation aids, airports, air traffic control procedures and regulations, and local airport traffic control rules.
  • Administer and supervise crew member training in accordance with GACAR Part 125.
  • Ensure the maintenance of crew member training records in accordance with GACAR Part 125.

Establish an approved training program in accordance with GACAR Part 125, Subpart L

  • Ensure scheduling of aircraft and crew members in accordance with GACAR Part 125 and the GOM.
  • Establish a system to monitor crew member training requirements, airman and medical certification, currency requirements of GACAR Part 61 and GACAR Part 125, and the flight and duty limits of the GOM.
  • Notify the GACA Safety office and GACA Aviation Standards of any aircraft accidents or incidents.
  • Approve the employment of air carrier crew member personnel.

Assign duties and responsibilities and supervise the activities of the Chief Pilot and Chief IFS.

Qualification/Experience

  • The Director of Flight Operations shall:
  • Hold or have held an airline transport pilot certificate (airplane);
  • Have experience as PIC in an aircraft of a similar size or complexity as the aircraft used in JASA’s operation; and
  • Have at least three (3) years of supervisory or managerial experience in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted under GACAR Part 121 or 125 or be in possession of a respective exemption from GACA.
  • Be able to work well in an international and interdisciplinary team
  • Have a proactive attitude and willingness to actively represent Jet Aviation's interests with external organizations
