Job Description


The role holder has the responsibility to assist in the smooth management and effective planning of all operational functions within the department in line with the targets and KPIs. They will be responsible for all shift related activities in the operations departments, including flight prep functions which is accomplished by directing and leading the catering team leaders.

Accountabilities

  • 1 Ensure the department meets set KPIs in relation to on time performance, service and cost and quality by means of rostering, efficiencies and auditing
    2 To ensure that the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
    3 Supervision and delegation of work and responsibility within all areas related to Supply Chain- Bond Operations
    4 Ensure airline equipments exchange and material supply is carried out as per catering manuals provided and standards required by airline customers.
    5 Update airline manuals with the latest and revised information and amendments covering all concerned sections. Communication and implementation of new/changes needs to be done within the time frame set.
    6 Maintain equipment standards in the working float as per the authorized levels of respective airlines. Regular checks and inspections on equipment packing to ensure that standards and specifications communicated by the airlines are strictly adhered to.
    7 Ensure physical inventory of airlines equipment’s are undertaken as and when required including monthly inventory in a timely manner.
    8 Ensure that all of the information, requirements and expectations of a task or work process be clearly communicated to department personnel. Monitor the output and performance of the same and apply corrective actions where necessary.
    9 Co-ordinate and communicate effectively with our internal customers to ensure on time delivery of required items.
    10 Prepare/review SOPs periodically for all internal processes. Guide, motivate and develop subordinate employees within the HR policy and deliver on the job training, SOP’s, staff familiarisation, induction requirements and staff guidance.
    11 Review and monitor the Stores areas within the department to ensure that all stock booked in and out of the stores is done so in an accurate manner in terms of quantity and where applicable by production or expiry dates. For food products check to ensure that traceability is maintained through receipt, storage and issue of these items. Monitor all Stores areas and apply corrective action where necessary, to ensure that the required standards of hygiene, safety, presentation and function are met and that the facilities and equipment utilized by the department are safe to use and are well maintained.
    12 Utilize the Inventory ERP system and all other available tools, to ensure that the department is maintaining tight controls on stock levels and that all slow moving and non-moving stock is identified. Work with all relevant internal stakeholders within the department and the business, to seek to manage and control these material costs.
    13 Provide support from a Bond stores aspect to other non-core areas of EAS Caterings business, including but not limited to – all Food Services division operations and 3rd Party business. Liaise with all internal customers of Stores to review the departments performance in the service provided to them, apply corrective action where necessary to ensure that their business needs are met.

Education & Experience

  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
  • Degree preferable in Airline catering, Industrial Catering or Hospitality Management.
  • Minimum 5 of years’ experience in Inflight services / inflight catering.
  • Basic knowledge in food safety, quality and hygiene
  • Knowledge of handling bonded warehouse
  • Computer literate with MS Office, SAP (word, excel, power point).
  • An understanding of lean management.
  • Analytical skills, communication, financial and budgetary knowledge.
  • Capable of working with a variety of counterparts at all levels, from internal department heads/shop floor to customers/GM level.
  • Ability to undertake and successfully achieve dedicated projects within the airline catering umbrella and good man management skills.
