Job Description


TSD tools and method is critical domain for GE businesses (Aviation, Power and Renewable). TSD tools platforms are equipped with state-of-the-art tools/methods which provides competitive edge for completing thermal analysis. These platforms are an integrated framework that has a customized flow and thermal solvers with customized GUI (Graphical User Interface) used by GE engineers, for conducting mixed fidelity simulations that includes integrated Flow, Heat transfer and Mechanical analyses.
Engineer – TSD Tools and Method engineer will be responsible for further enhancing thermal capabilities in TSD tools Platform as per business need and fix issues in platform as reported by thermal users. This role also demands code base deployment, testing and detailed validation before newer releases of TSD tools to 100+ users. The tool owner must actively execute identified capability enhancements while following LEAN approach to eliminate waste as per business need.
In addition to the above, this role also demands strong collaboration with thermal users to empowering them in resolving issues/challenge faced while using thermal tools.

  • Translating thermal capability enhancement requirements in to first principles-based equations and solving them through in-house solvers before implementing the same in the thermal solver.
  • Implementing thermal enhancement in Thermal solver while ensuing desired connectivity between interfacing tools/methods such as Mechanical solver and Flow Solver etc.
  • Creating user interface (UI) specifications in accordance with enhancement request.
  • Empowering thermal users while addressing: 1. Bug/Issues reported by users,2. Issues faced while using thermal tools, 3. Automation requests 4. New technology integration requests.
  • Meeting TSD tools delivery schedule adhering to toll gate process followed within GE.
  • Following details SDLC process for thermal tool release (Code update, Integration, Compilation, Testing, Validation, review and Release)
  • Overall, 3-4 years of experience with bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Engineering which included Thermal domain.
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer physics, simulation, and numerical methods
  • Minimum 2 years of experience must in thermal domain
  • A self-learner who is passionate towards formulating thermal problem in mathematical formulae and integrate with TSD tools platform.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Exposure to thermal solver development.
  • Exposure to software development
