Position Overview:

Boeing Field Services Team is currently looking for Experienced Backshop Supervisor to join their team in Hindon Air Force Station, India.  This supervisor will lead a team in the Backshop which is undertaking maintenance and repair of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) installed in all the shops which include Machine Shop, Sheet metal Shop, NDI shop and Composite shop. The shops have imported state of the art equipment installed and the selected candidate will be required to provide familiarization training to the IAF technicians. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense India (BDI) business organization.

 This position is for Leading the Operational & Maintenance support of the machines & equipment in the Backshop which supports C-17 aircraft. It involves providing Backshop support for C17 aircraft during maintenance and operations to coordinate the maintenance, operations, documentation and planning associated with the equipment and machines installed in the Backshop. It Involves constant interaction and coordination with IAF personnel at Hindan Air Force Base.

 Teamwork in diverse team is important in this position.  Must be able to think proactively and work collaboratively with every team member.  Must be willing to work flexible hours (early or late as needed) to interface customers’ requirements. Demonstrate strong written, oral, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of written and spoken English, and familiar with computer operation. Be self-motivated and able to work independently with a positive attitude and highest ethics.

 Individual will work closely with Backshop Manager / Base Manager and other team members of C17 Field Services. Individual will develop and maintain relationships / partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners to develop collaborative plans and execute on-going projects.

Position Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will coordinate support operations and maintenance requirements associated with various Backshop Machines with the designated customer team and will plan, research, develop, analyze and retrofit repair solutions that comply with customer, regulatory, and company requirements. The incumbent will also involve with defining the procedures, special tooling, kit requirements, work packages, and material requirements for accomplishment of inspections, modifications, improvements/ changes and repairs of Backshop equipment at Hindan Air Force base.

The selected candidate will also: -

  • coordinate Intermediate maintenance, advanced trouble shooting and breakdown maintenance of all the Backshop equipment.
  • coordinate with customer teams for correct documentation of equipment logs, maintenance history and asset management.
  • be responsible for assisting in development, planning, implementation, management, and function as the technical support focal related to Backshop Equipment
  • coordinate maintenance, modifications, calibration, proof load test and repairs per established customer, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • monitor Backshop equipment performance and take all necessary actions to ensure maintenance of the equipment is accomplished by customer’s maintenance teams and assist them as required so as to ensure availability of equipment for use at all times.
  • document and report Backshop equipment serviceability to the customer on a periodic basis.
  • maintain liaison as required with company engineering and the program office to ensure support to the Backshop equipment.
  • provide technical support as required and familiarization related to operation and maintenance of the Backshop equipment to the customer technicians and operators.
  • assist the customer in analysis of faults/ breakdowns.
  • assist in identifying and procurement of the spare parts and their minimum quantities.
  • develop, coordinate and forecast spare part requirements to the customer for all Backshop equipment.
  • Will be responsible for handing over the received Backshop equipment in serviceable condition and completeness to the customer as per agreed schedule.
  • Will be responsible to coordinate and arrange the preventive and breakdown maintenance of Boeing owned equipment, tooling, testers in order to ensure their availability for Boeing tasks.
  • any other duties and responsibilities are assigned by management.

Employment will be subject to the candidate’s ability to obtain a security clearance from Indian security agencies/ IAF.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Degree / Diploma in Electrical/ Electronic/ Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8 to 12 years’ experience in maintaining and managing Backshop equipment like CNC/NC Lathe machines, industrial X-ray machines, composite repair machines, NDI machines and various other aviation general engineering machines preferably at Airport / Airlines/ Aviation MRO Establishments.
  • Good knowledge on MS office / Computer is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience and capability to diagnose the defects of mechanical, electrical, electronics associated with Backshop equipment through schematic and electrical diagrams and technical manuals
  • Experience in Management / planning / provisioning at a maintenance organization is essential
  • Experience in coordinating directly with customer on maintenance related issues is preferred.

 Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Be able to demonstrate highly innovative and creative problem-solving skills. Teamwork is important in this position.
  • Demonstrate strong written, oral, presentation and interpersonal communication skills and able to work independently with a positive attitude and highest ethics.

Typical Education & Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+8 years' related work experience.
