Boeing Intellectual Property team is currently looking for Experienced IP Strategy and Protection Specialist to join their team in Bangalore, India.

This position will support the India Country Lead for IP matters. Position holder will work with the Program Leadership, Technology Teams, and Contracts across Boeing India to capture, protect and enable the use of Boeing’s Intellectual Property. Position holder will communicate and represent Boeing Intellectual Property requirements, including understanding Indian IP requirements and working knowledge of patent law.


Position Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Communicate Boeing’s IP requirements for in-country application to programs and businesses
  • Develop and plan to protect Boeing’s IP
  • Assists in the maintenance of business unit relationships to understand client business and technology objectives.
  • Contribute to develop IP strategy and technology roadmaps for programs
  • Work close with research & development, engineering and software development teams to identify opportunities to improve innovation effectiveness
  • Capture and record existing IP
  • Prospects/harvests invention disclosures, recommends disposition of protectable inventions, and supports patent committee review and portfolio maintenance pruning decisions.
  • Assists with preparation of patent data package for outside counsel, and in overseeing outside counsel patent filing activity.
  • Provide IP Protection guidance and marking methods
  • Identify specific in-country IP compliance risks and support IP enforcement activities
  • Conduct general and country specific IP Training including coordination of IP awareness sessions
  • Support innovation events across business units

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate may be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors of Engineering
  • Experience working with processes and procedures for creation of Intellectual Property (IP) rights
  • Experience developing Intellectual Property (IP) plans, policies, procedures and processes
  • Experience administering processes and tools for managing Intellectual Property (IP)
  • Experience with invention disclosure harvesting. Review claims and conduct patent prosecution to preserve the business value of the patent
  • Requires analytical skills, critical thinking, confidence and cross functional relationship building, strong communication (verbal and writing skills), as well as a self-motivated and persuasive personality with a positive attitude
  • Experience in any of the following technical areas: mechanical systems, structures, aerodynamics, electrical systems and electronics design (power electronics, wiring design, etc.), communications, software engineering, digital aviation, emerging technologies, materials & manufacturing, chemical technologies, 3D printing, metallurgy

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Masters in Engineering or Science or PhD
  • Patent agent

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+8 years' related work experience.)
