This is for a systems engineering (SE) position in the Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) team. As a member of this SEIT team, Systems Safety engineer ensures compliance with required regulations, procedures and policies with primary focus on aviation. Facilitates identification of safety and environmental risks and promotes reduction or elimination of potential accidents, occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths and safety-related financial losses. Systems safety engineers develop, administer, and enforce regulations and standards concerning aviation safety, including (1) the airworthiness of aircraft and aircraft systems, (2) the competence of pilots, mechanics, and other airmen personnel, and (3) safety aspects of aviation facilities, equipment and procedures.

This position provides consultation and technical direction to design teams and management teams on near term and longer-range projects relative to System safety requirements and risk estimation and management, including applicable regulations and standards.

Job Description:

  • Experience in Airplane systems Displays, Flight Management Systems
  • Performs System analyses activities for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification
  • Creates Fault Tree Analysis, Failure Mode Effects Cause Analysis, Safety Assessment Reports, SAE ARP 4761 and 4754A, Mil Std 882 System Safety Programs and risk assessment process, Reliability, Testability (RAMS FMECA), Safety Analysis.
  • Support in Planning, defining, and verifying System Safety requirements to ensure design integrity and safety for certification of aircraft systems/subsystems for full lifecycle.
  • Actively contributes in effective Systems Safety Engineering efforts are conducted through identification and analysis of potential hazards from aircraft and system concept definition through development, testing, production, and sustainment.
  • Support in performing aircraft and system functional hazard analysis, system safety analysis, and fault tree analysis and provide recommendations to improve system safety.
  • Skills & Experience Reliability, Reliability Analysis, Reliability Engineer, Reliability Engineering, Reliability Prediction, FMEA, FTA, FRACAS
  • Collaborate with different stakeholders in the relevant areas in order to derive the inputs for the safety Engineering case and decision making
  • Contribute in System Safety engineering processes, procedures, and instructions to ensure system safety in all facets of program operations.
  • Work within the Safety leader and Engineering to ensure aircraft Systems and Subsystem safety of flight.
  • Assist in perform the necessary hazard analyses to identify potentially hazardous conditions and recommend actions that would contribute to the minimization or prevention of hazards.
  • Support: Define / verify DO-178 and DO-254 software / hardware development assurance level (DAL) requirements.
  • Support in performing aircraft-level Failure Mode, Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
  • Support in Perform Aircraft and System Safety Analysis (ASA, SSA) and provide feedback to the program

Qualification & Skills Required

  • Bachelors Engineering degree, Preferably Electronics/Aeronautical/Electrical / Systems Engineering with upto 9-13 years / Master's degree, with upto 7-12 years' related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Should have experience on Integrated Modular Avionics Systems or any other Avionics Systems development lifecycle.
  • Certifications related to Functional Safety (FAA/EASA) preferred
  • Technical (HW, SW) know-how on the Avionics system (Electrical, Electronics & embedded systems)
  • Design, Development and validation experience in the field of Avionics system (safety monitoring preferable)
  • Ability to foresee and manage risks/risk management.
  • Self-motivated, Good problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors Engineering degree, Preferably Electrical / Electronics / Computer Science Familiarity of Reliability calculations such as FMEA, FTA and Reliability Tools is an added advantage
  • Strong Written, verbal communication with engineers, management, and non-engineering support staff

Typical Education & Experience:

Bachelors Engineering degree, Preferably Electronics/Aeronautical/Electrical / Systems Engineering and typically 9+ or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master 8+ years' of related work experience etc.).
