Job Description

To provide fleet and network planning expertise and research capability to ensure that flydubai’s fleet requirements are met in terms of fleet size, aircraft type, configuration and performance, in line with the long-term strategy of the airline, as well as route network related recommendations primarily focusing on the production of feasibility studies into new routes, monitoring the financial performance of the existing network and taking remedial action in conjunction with the Scheduling department.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Key Activities 

• Assist with the production and coordination of strategy projects and initiatives (e.g. long term plans, fleet acquisition, aircraft reconfiguration, etc.) with other relevant departments and stakeholders, developing written reports or presenting business cases to Senior Management.
• Economic evaluation of new aircraft types contributing to aircraft and engine selection decisions, research into aircraft economics, interior layouts, product improvements and performance requirements.
• Act as the departmental focal point for aircraft performance and as the liaison with Flight Operations in performance issues.
• Maintain a phase-in/phase-out long term fleet plan that considers alternative growth scenarios, aircraft retirement options and airport facilities.
• Evaluate strategic alternatives in network and product planning, such as aircraft redeployment scenarios, cost benefit analysis, re-routing, cost index increases, etc.
• Monitor developments from manufacturers and competitors, including route network and product offering by competition and highlight improvement areas for management review.
• Evaluate and develop new fleet and network planning tools and research methods for department
• Review existing network performance to identify profitability issues and provide recommendations to management to improve network profitability, as well as an effective implementation plan.
• Carry out the economic evaluation of various new route options, independently assessing business risks such as demand planning, competitive landscape, cost implications and financial exposures, and provide the management with recommendations for future growth opportunities.
• Evaluate potential opportunities to align flydubai route network with current and future interline or codeshare partners.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

Minimum Qualification

• Minimum degree level qualification in Mathematics, Engineering or Statistics, or Science discipline.
• A Post graduate qualification in Aviation/Airline Management preferred.

Experience

• Candidates should typically have a minimum of six years of functional Fleet or Network Planning experience at a commercial airline or aircraft manufacturer.

Knowledge / Skills

• Candidates must have a sound grasp of aircraft performance and airline economics. Solid understanding of commercial, operations and finance roles within an airline.
• Sound understanding of aircraft performance and network planning 
• Problem solving skills are critical to the role. Must be a self-starter with experience of managing cross-functional projects.
