Role and Responsibilities
CAE Middle East is recruiting a FSTD Support Engineer/Technician III who will be part of a team providing Maintenance and Support for a fleet of Full Flight Simulators and Lower Level Training devices part of a Flight Crew Training Centre located in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The positions will be reporting to the Group Leader Technical Operations.
As a FSTD Support Engineer/Technician III, the incumbent performs complex assignments on site. Work activities have an important impact on service delivery, cost effectiveness and training qualification renewal. At this level, the incumbent has demonstrated the ability to solve a variety of complex simulator systems problems. Contribute to the team to ensure that all Training devices are maintained as per their qualification standard and in line with CAE quality guidelines and procedures. In addition to defined job functions, employees are required to carry out such other duties that may be reasonably required for the smooth operation of CAE Training center operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Support the Flight Simulator Training Devices and Cabin Crew Training Devices: Attend maintenance calls, device setup, conversions and demos, assist during SFTs / PVCs, perform snag clearance, etc… Prepare and ensure that the training devices are ready for NAA recurrent evaluations.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex training device issues, including NAA raised issues. Promptly update the associated DRs. Work with colleagues on AOGs. Perform hardware design, refurbishment and modifications. Communicate and share information with colleagues and other departments (logistics, scheduling, training department, etc…) to improve training delivery and customer satisfaction. Identify recurring issues and work to pursue permanent solutions. Make use of the Maintenance Management System to record, track, and review maintenance activities.
Perform the role of device or task caretaker. Manage all aspects of the device or task autonomously. Seek and make improvements to procedures related to various training device maintenance tasks. Mentor and provide on the job technical training to junior engineers and technicians. Assume the role of technical expert for one simulator system. (i.e. Visual, Motion, Flt Controls, etc…)
Monitor Simissues and action / update issues that are assigned to the on-site team for action. Perform all requested tests, and provide clear and concise feedback. Consult and coordinate with senior colleagues to ensure that all Snags and SPRs are actioned promptly, to meet SLA targets.
Work with the specialists on complex issues that require extensive testing, troubleshooting, research, and design. Take on special projects based on the needs of the operation.
Comply with local & global CAE Environmental Health & Safety standards, instructions, and safe working procedures. Exercise duty of care for own H&S, and that of others who may be affected by his/her work.
Job-Related Skills & Requirements
Technical College Diploma or Degree in Electronics, Electrical or Aviation Field and at least 5-8 years of related work experience.
Excellent knowledge of the English Language, both spoken and written.
Highly engaged and motivated individual.
Highly customer oriented, and must be able to deal tactfully in sensitive situations.
Excellent workmanship and strong contributor within a team environment.
Demonstrate outstanding initiative, the ability to plan work, and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
Able to work flexible shifts, and adapt to changing work schedules and shift patterns.
Strong organizations skills to coordinate all maintenance activities within an assigned group.
Capacity to recognize complex and/or recurrent training deficiencies and coordinate the resolution efforts.
Very good understanding of aircraft terminology and simulation training devices.
Able to interpret schematics and other technical documents pertaining to simulation training devices.
Knowledge of Analog and Digital principles and theory.
Must possess adequate troubleshooting skills of Electronic, Electric, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic systems.
Must be skilled in the use of test equipment, and software diagnostics tools.
Very good understanding and comprehension of Aircraft Systems, Avionics, Motion, and Visual Systems.
Good computer skills with knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc…)
Advanced knowledge of computer mainframe/architecture, networking, operating systems (Windows NT/XP, UNIX, Linux, AIX), and software languages (C, C++, FORTRAN). Ability to write code and make software changes.
Good knowledge of local & International (EASA, FAA, etc) regulations pertaining to FSTDs.
Demonstrated ability as a “Technical Expert” on one simulator system and/or aircraft types.
Good understanding of Health and Safety Regulations.
