Job Description

  • Lead and manage the Galley Planning (GLP) team to ensure optimum use of aircraft galley & cabin stowage space on all Emirates flights – regular and charter. The aim is to enable
  • Safe & efficient delivery of service by cabin crew to our on board guest
  • Industrialisation of flight packing operations to drive handling/assembly process efficiencies
  • Drive efficiencies in weight carried on board.

Job Accountabilities

  • Design, manage & control the master galley configuration/item master information in the GLP system to ensure correct and accurate planning information is available to produce detailed and accurate Galley Loading Plans which conform to Aviation Safety Regulations and stipulations by the galley manufacturers.
  • Determine galley/cabin stowage space requirements and provide key input to the Design Cell when planning stowage requirements on new or retrofit aircrafts to ensure optimum stowage space allocated for the uplift of products required for inflight use.
  • Develop and manage Packing configuration & stowage locations of units on the aircrafts by working closely with the Design Cell & Operations Team with the aim to;
  • Drive safe & ergonomic galley operations for crew whilst maintaining service efficiencies
  • Minimise adverse impact to on board guest when free-loaded items are placed in cabin or aircraft cupboards.
  • Enable efficient flight assembly operations by caterers
  • Replenishing or exchanging loading units/items at optimum locations on the flights routing.
  • Design complete, detailed and accurate GLP for every planned departure flight to relevant catering stations, with detailed information to enable service providers to pack, marshal and load departure flights to the standards required whilst providing key input to the Demand Forecasting Team to plan for the supply/purchase of stock for flight use.
  • Manage the planning application to produce GLP plans in a manner that supports the agility required to cater to adhoc situations on the day of operations.
  • Plan the introduction of new products or changes to packing & loading specifications by coordinating with the Design Cell and leading a cross functional team from Supply Chain, Culinary, Operations & Procurement to achieve the planned change to specification, time and budget
  • Manage the publication of updated aircraft pantry weights (food and non-food) to Flight Operations for considerations when planning aircraft weight, balance & loads.
  • Continuously develop & drive changes to the GLP system that enables carrying optimum stock items/quantities per flight to reduce cost of processing & operations. Whilst continuously developing the galley planning system capability to integrate with other catering module in order to automate activities to produce Galley Planning Plans
  • Lead and manage the team to ensure they are developed and have the appropriate skill set and knowledge base to confidently apply to the job. Guide and develop the team with the necessary skills through one to one meetings, coaching and performance reviews.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) preferably in operational research / advanced degree in optimization is preferable
  • Experience planning for an operation of high volumes, high constraints on resources and on time
  • In-Flight Service. In-flight Catering 8+ Years

Knowledge/skills:

  • Ability to lead and manage a team of galley planners
  • Good knowledge in systems and technology
  • Knowledge of modelling, analysis and mathematical optimization
  • Service Design knowledge
  • Good analytical abilities
