What you will be doing

You will be on a development pathway to prepare you to be an Aircraft Systems Simulation Engineer within and across the Systems CoC, and can expect to be involved in the following;

• Develop an understanding of the functionalities of varied systems in the Aircraft and the role Modeling & Simulation plays in the System Design, Architecture, Development & Integration process
• Support the initiatives to adopt and harmonize the new Ways of Working being matured to enable Co-Simulation and seamless continuity between Mathematical models, Architecture models and detailed behavioral & performance models across the Aircraft Development lifecycle
• Have an exposure to Specify, design, develop, integrate, validate and deliver the Software Frameworks from the Systems Engineering and Simulation context
• Immersion in the complex world of Systems Verification & Validation beginning with the understanding and decomposition and validation of complex requirements, Design Verification, Product Verification and Validation
• Enhance your understanding of the Industrial Systems Architecture and Flow simulation capabilities and develop a coherence with the abstract Models
• Enrich your Data Analytics skills at a basic level to enable the choice of data-driven approaches wherever required in such a complex problem-solving environment

Your first placement will be at Bengaluru, India in the Systems Modeling domain, part of Simulation & Physical Systems Department at Airbus India Engineering. During year one, you’ll be exposed to the overall System Development Lifecycle process of different systems (Air-Conditioning, Fuel Systems, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electrical, Flight Control, Cabin, Landing Gear to name a few). During year two, the focus shall be on enhancing programming skills for the Framework and Simulation platform needs and immersion into System Engineering V&V techniques, Industrial systems and enriching Data Analytics capabilities.

Your success on this development journey will be demonstrated by:

• Understanding and explanation of Airbus business process and propose improvisation wherever possible
• Grasp and demonstrate the first principles for design and specification of Aircraft systems based on Top level Aircraft and System requirements 
• Ability to quickly learn and utilize the appropriate Airbus tools and techniques in accordance with the challenges solved
• The kind of decision making skill and holistic approach demonstrated in managing conflict and project crisis effectively
• Interface with varied stake-holders and share and receive feedback on improvements in day-to-day job and the overall metamorphosis over the 2-year period

In this role, you will be able to have an understanding of Overall Aircraft Systems and System Engineering process, fundamental programming skills, Model Based System Engineering deployment techniques, Industrial Architecture from Systems context and basic data analytics methods (and supporting tools) that you may reuse in other disciplines whilst also developing your network outside the Systems Community. Since this role involves business rotations geared towards grooming a career path, it could involve travels across any of the 8 countries-France, Spain, USA, India, Portugal, Italy & Canada (if Business demands and situation permits).

With Aircraft being recognized as a complex System of Systems, the approach of Systems Engineering and the panache towards Systems thinking has gathered momentum in the aviation industry. With the new challenges of Sustainable aviation, worldwide energy challenges, new engines and energy technologies, and data analytics approaches shaping tomorrow's aviation and Airbus' future, A Systems Engineer is expected to be a master of all trades mentioned above and also have the ability to be gentle enough to harness collective intelligence by working in symphony with the team.

What we look for

To be a successful applicant to this position on the Airbus Global Graduate Programme, you must be able to demonstrate;

• Educated to a degree level or equivalent within a relevant field of study - Engineering or related (preferably Aerospace, Automotive, Mechanical or Electrical)
• Strong interest in System Engineering, Model Based System Engineering, Aircraft Systems, and data analytics
• Maximum of three years of relevant work experience
• Strong verbal and written communication in our business language (English)
• A desire to work in a collaborative team environment, focused on driving future innovation
• The ability to be self aware and a wish to be in the driving seat of your development.
