Job Description

We are recruiting for Service Quality and Safety Officer for Ground Services to be based in Doha, Qatar.

The successful applicant will assist the Contingency Planning and Service Quality Manager. You will manage the Hub Operations Support Model through delivery of Quality assurance program that provides oversight capability and a regular quality audition schedule. You will assist the Qatar Airways Hub Operations in developing commonality in process and ensuring consistency and standards are maintained.

Your specific responsibilities include:

  • Supervises all aspects of ground safety and quality to ensure compliance with company/group policy and standards.
  • Implements departmental strategic quality and safety plans. These plans should be based on risk management principles and dialogue with line management and safety forums to determine goals and objectives
  • Implements company and risk assessment principles in examining roles, activities, resources and equipment. Risk assessment and hazard identification processes across the Hub in order to determine appropriate and effective risk control strategies.
  • Implements Qatar Airways Hub Safety Management System in ground operations, eliminating workplace incidents and injuries, embedding a safety culture, and meeting compliance and business requirements.
  • Provide advice and assistance to line managers and staff to ensure compliance with requirements of legislation, standards, codes of practice and internal policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for an effective audit and quality control program and periodic oversight and observations to check ongoing compliance within Qatar Airways Hub and its suppliers of ground handling service. This includes audits, safety systems audits and functional audits.
  • Conduct investigations and identification of appropriate outcomes.
  • Undertake required performance measurement and trend monitoring to deliver timely and accurate communication of departmental safety performance data.
  • Ensure legislative requirements regarding hazardous substances and emergency preparedness are met and ensure that the provision, storage and maintenance of plant, equipment, substances and systems of work are safe and do not risk employee well-being.
  • Update, maintenance, input and interrogation of relevant system reports and entries on behalf of the department.
  • Responsible for regular reporting and analysis of trends in ground safety.
  • Complete weekly and monthly incident reports and ensure suitable communication at all levels.
  • Act as the main Liaison with relevant management and internal/external departments on quality and compliance issues

About you:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in i.e. Aviation, Quality or Safety related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in an airline or reputed Ground Handling Operations at supervisory level.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English language.
  • Demonstrated management experience in an operational environment with extensive experience in ground services processes and standards.
  • Able to perform duties under pressure whilst maintaining the highest levels of customer service standards.
  • Extensive experience, knowledge and understanding of Safety and Quality Systems in the aviation industry and an in-depth knowledge of requirements.
  • Auditor experience/qualifications, including audit program design and implementation experience.
  • Experience with implementation of Standards, Codes of Practice, Legislation or regulations concerning safety.
  • Experience of performing functional/specialist activity across more than one business area.
