Delegated by Air Arabia and approved by the GCAA as the “Nominated Post Holder” for the “Engineering and Maintenance” position as per (CAME). Responsible for the management of the continued airworthiness and maintenance requirements of the assigned fleet in compliance with terms of AOC, regulatory requirements and OEM Manuals.

This role is also responsible for budget forecasting and expenditure, engineering systems, financial control, acquisitions, lease and sublease. Shall offer quality meaningful analyses and technical perspectives necessary for corporate decisions and strategic planning

Key Result Responsibilities

  • Leads Engineering & Maintenance Department Heads/Managers to set the corresponding strategy and support the overall business strategic direction in line with company’s vision, mission and guiding principles.
  • Supports the Management establish strategic and budgetary plans for related areas and works alongside each of his/her teams to ensure successful delivery of the respective budgets and plans.
  • Drives the Engineering and Maintenance teams with an overall responsibility of all functional activities and relationships, this includes: continued airworthiness management exposition (CAME), maintenance planning and cost control, technical procurement, technical records, warranties and financial control, projects management, acquisitions, leasing and sub-leasing, training and standards, licensing, etc.
  • Acts as the ultimate accountable to the Management to ensure that all maintenance and engineering requirements are timely carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and approved manuals.
  • Supports the Management in achieving Air Arabia’s strategic growth and expansion objectives; acts accountable for all the acquisition and/or lease/sublease of aircrafts and for the entire development of the fleet at very competitive prices. 
  • Establishes and capitalizes on effective working relationships with regulatory bodies, Airbus, OEMs, Suppliers, Vendors and Airline Customers to pursue/negotiate the securing of the Air Arabia Group’s acquisition, development, and maintenance needs including both short/long term plans.

Key Result Responsibilities - Continued

  • Sets, implements and enforces the overall Engineering and Maintenance policies and working procedures based on technical input and recommendations from the respective Heads and Line Managers.
  • Approves the design and monitors the implementation and development of the process flow and matrix of authority within the respective departments/functions and in relation to other departments to ensure smooth and on time performance (OTP).
  • Oversees the design, development, amendments, and distribution of the Air Arabia Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Exposition Manual (CAME) and the Air Arabia Maintenance Organization Exposition (MOE) ensuring all concerned personnel comply with their provisions.
  • Initiates, promotes and enhances the financial control fundamentals in the Engineering & Maintenance whilst ensuring adherence to contractual obligations as well as cost efficiency in all respective areas of operation.
  • Proactively leads and reviews the performance and progress of the Engineering and Maintenance Heads. Spends time coaching and guiding them, identifies opportunities and plans for their development and approves on those of their teams.
  • Partners with Stakeholders and mainly support functions such as Finance, HR, and IT to ensure cost-effective utilization of resources, systems & tools.

Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)

  • Bachelor degree in Aircrafts Engineering/Aeronautical/Electro Mechanical or equivalent; MBA degree is preferred.
  • Licensing authority approved courses in aircraft engineering. 
  • Holder/has held Maintenance Engineer’s member license type II from an ICAO state is a must.
  • Professional membership of associations related to the Aviation/Airlines industry.
  • Project Management certificate, alternately the proven corresponding working experience is a must.
  • Cost Control, Compliance, Budgeting and Quality Assurance certificates and trainings are an added value.
  • Proficient in aircrafts engineering systems; proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic Languages.

Work Experience

  • 15+ years’ experience in the Aviation industry, with a minimum of 10 years working in both Engineering and Maintenance divisions on senior management level, with 5 years at least leading one/both Departments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in the Civil Aviation Authorities Engineering & Maintenance regulations and requirements, preferably GCAA: policies, procedures, manuals and licensing.
  • Experienced in designing, and enforcing policies, procedures, operating manuals as per business needs and in line with adopted regulations and approved quality standards.
  • Negotiates, drafts, and executes contracts, SLAs of extreme technical nature: acquisitions lease and sublease.
  • Experienced in developing and presenting feasibility studies, strategies (long term/short term).
  • Proven record in enhancing productivity/increasing profitability through cost control and aircrafts optimization.
  • Logical analytic thinker, identifies pitfalls, recommends cost-effective solutions, conclusions/approaches to problems; SWOT Analysis.
  • Kknowledge and exposure on airline and Flight Operations, SGHA formalities and standard regulations; good understanding of Flight crew thought process.
  • Very good knowledge in Commercial/Quality Assurance /Safety/Internal & External Audit functional operations and practices.
