Job Description

The Head of Finance is responsible for overseeing all the financial reporting, FP&A and supporting the management team with developing the business. They ensure that all financial information is accurate and timely, and they may also be involved in developing or implementing new systems to improve this process. Ultimate accountability for ensuring that the company’s financial statements are accurate and complete. 

Accountabilities

• Reporting to management on the company’s financial results and providing recommendations to improve performance
• Estimating the impact of new accounting standards or other changes in accounting principles on the company’s financial statements
• Ensuring that the financial statements are accurate and complete by reviewing them for any errors or omissions
• Reviewing the company’s accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards
• Planning and organizing the preparation and issuance of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other reports as needed
• Interpreting financial data to identify trends and potential problems that may affect the company’s financial health
• Preparing reports such as shareholder reports and tax reports based on the company’s financial performance
• Coordinating with external auditors, internal accounting staff, and other departments involved in financial reporting processes
• Making decisions about which accounting methods should be used for recording transactions, and communicating these decisions to other departments within the organization
• Leading the team through the quarterly and annual forecasting and budget process.  
• Driving a through understanding of the actuals results against budget, forecast and prior year
• Developing and monitoring key financial metrics and driving performance against those metrics. 
• Working with the M&A team on acquisitions and divestments
• Ensure that the Shared Service Centre accurately closed the period results in line with accounting policies 
• Work with the company’s Executive Leadership in preparing Board and Investor reports
• Support the review of the Internal Control Environment 

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or another closely related field.  Master’s degree in accounting or business administration with a concentration in accounting.
• Preference for Big 4 trained with 10 years PQE
