Job Description

As the Global Head of Supply Chain, you will be responsible for the developing and implementing strategies that maximize the benefit to dnata Catering through its external supplier base and global procurement and supply chain teams.

This role will include, close collaboration and management within and across functions, with a strong focus on the end customer, business targets and synergies within dnata catering and the wider Group.

Job Outline:

  • Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, across a broad spectrum of disciplines and categories, the role will include planning and delivery of capital projects with stakeholders, product enhancements, procurement, contract and vendor management for a varied portfolio of contracts/commodities.
  • Work with dnata Caterings’ global businesses and implement best procurement techniques to scope and achieve the required quality and lowest total cost of purchase/ownership and optimum terms & conditions.
  • Effectively manage stakeholders within a matrix environment, deliver on projects, alongside more traditional tenders; direct supplier negotiations; preparation and evaluation of options available; critical assessment of business risk associated with various options and developing the best negotiation strategy.
  • Directly manage a lean HQ team and matrix management of a dispersed team of procurement and supply chain specialists, ensuring that wider dnata Catering business activities and goals are efficiently supported and the organisation’s commercial interests are served.
  • Define and manage dnata catering Global Supplier strategy, in conjunction with business heads and other stakeholders. Ensuring businesses have clear targets and goals and manage according to the principles of central governance / local management.
  • Management of the full tender process for purchasing and contracting including: sourcing, pre-qualification and evaluation of suppliers; preparation of the tender documents; administration of the tender process to ensure time scales are met; negotiation of terms & conditions; and evaluation of responses. Whilst ensuring the businesses have the appropriate tools and techniques to do this locally.
  • Ensure contract administration for all contracts including writing of contracts (in liaison with Legal, Insurance, Finance and Customer Departments), communication with potential suppliers, post contract reviews etc. This would include development and adherence to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with suppliers and other stakeholders where relevant.
  • Develop and maintain a work programme of dnata Catering’s CAPEX/OPEX/Property related projects due for negotiation, including pro-active identification of any opportunities for product and profitability improvement.
  • Account manage the requirements and concerns of dnata Catering Businesses at all times to ensure that the Customer Department is fully involved in the prioritization, strategy and priorities of procurement process.
  • Seek continuous improvement of the dnata Catering Supplier portfolio and cost base, procurement and supply chain process and procedures to ensure dnata Catering is at leading edge of industry practices.
  • Proactively search for and identify opportunities for driving profitability wherever possible. Benchmark the performance of their sections against available statistics/indicators and identify areas for improvement. This will include knowledge of technical advances, market developments and other relevant changes in the supply market.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for joint purchasing with other group companies, with a view to reducing unit costs of acquisition to the benefit of both companies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 10 years experience at a middle management level of above, within a supplier management, procurement or supply chain function.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong Commercial Acumen is a must
  • Strong Financial Acumen is a must
  • A proven track record of analytical decision-making
  • Exceptional organisational and negotiation skills
  • Proven track record in influencing decision making processes of line departments.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work with senior personnel across a global network.
