Job Description

Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is passionate about execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with mentorship.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with mentorship. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with shown interpersonal skills. Provides informal mentorship to new team members
  • PhD/ MTech/ MS/ BTech in Mechanical/ Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of relevant experience on Mechanical Analysis/ Design of aircraft engine components or equivalent
  • In-depth understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Experience on design and analysis of static, rotor components and systems
  • Ability to evaluate and improve designs based on interdisciplinary design criteria
  • Proficiency in application of Geometry, Finite Element and optimization methods for design evaluation
  • Strong oral and written communication skill
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Product knowledge about Aircraft engines or Gas turbine
  • Ability to lead small teams and initiatives of moderate scope and impact.
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills.
  • Shown analytical and organizational ability.
  • Adequate understanding of GD&T & Stack-ups.
  • Awareness of Lean/Six-sigma methodologies
