Job Description

The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will lead a team of Process Engineers to provide oversight of all technical issues and be accountable for the technical performance of Chemical , Platinum coatings, Heat Treatment, chemical vapor deposition and pack cementation for the repair of aircraft engine components.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership
  • Coach and mentor team
  • Generating work instructions and operating procedures for furnaces and coating preparation and application.
  • Provide oversight and leadership on Chemical, Platinum Plating, Heat Treat and coating processes by collaborating closely with product engineers and repair development engineers.
  • Ensuring that all Chemical, Platinum Plating, heat treatment and coating processes comply with quality requirements, conduct investigations, and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Track process yield and identify opportunities to improve FTY.
  • Engagement (Lead, participate, facilitate) in Lean & 6S to improve furnace utilization and labor efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Engagement with operations and maintenance personnel to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Preparing technical specifications for the purchase and upgrading of heat treatment and coating equipment.
  • Conducting Risk Assessments and ensure that Chemical, Platinum Plating, heat treat, and coating processes are operated in compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations and Policies.
  • Conduct buy-off, machine qualification and process substantiation. 
  • Training for special process technicians

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science
  • 8+ years’ experience in the aerospace, Chemical, heat treatment or materials processing industry
  • Good understanding of metallurgical and chemical processes used in the repair of aircraft engine components.
  • Good knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma principles
  • Highly adaptable in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience in an Aerospace Manufacturing/MRO environment would be an added advantage
