Position Overview

Boeing India Engineering is currently looking for a Lead Mechanical Systems Customer Support Engineer (Payloads/Interiors) to join the team in Bangalore, India. This position will focus on providing 24/7 support to Boeing commercial airplane customers. This position offers a unique opportunity to work complex technical challenges in support of safety operation and return to service.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assessing and resolving product/process issues through the product life-cycle.
  • Leading research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.
  • Providing analysis of interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service.
  • Working with multi-functional teams to conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformance.
  • Assesses sophisticated system events reports to resolve potential safety issues.
  • Writes documentation of hardware related problems.
  • Develops customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Solves problems and provides other support of fielded hardware over the entire product life-cycle.
  • Willing to support a 24/7 on-call rotation schedule and the ability to work variable shifts, including weekends or overtime.
  • Being a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working optimally under pressure in a time-constrained environment.
  • Execute work independently without supervision
  • Proactively seek information and direction to optimally complete the statement of work.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with multi-functional team. Must be willing to work flexible hours (early or late as needed) to interface with Boeing personnel around the world.
  • Demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Experience with airworthiness regulatory agencies.
  • Experience supporting end users in a customer service role.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple team functions
  • Knowledge of payload systems installed on Boeing commercial airplane models (software and hardware) as it applies to maintenance and operations
  • Knowledge of repair, maintenance and retrofit processes and practices
  • Knowledge of airplane’s maintenance and flight operation documentation
  • Knowledge of the Airworthiness Directives and related Service documents
  • Experience in system’s failure analysis, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting on Boeing commercial airplane models

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 13 to 16 years of experience in structures engineering.
  • Experience supporting end users in a customer service role.
  • Experience working with MRB (Material Review Board) activities related to aircraft structures.
  • Experience working transport category airplane certification or production/fleet support projects involving FAA approval.

Typical Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor or Master in Engineering (preferably in Aeronautical / Aerospace or equivalent discipline) with 13+ years of work experience.
