Job Description

  • Manage the UK South Leisure Sales effort to ensure achievement of the revenue sales target in accordance with company commercial and marketing objectives. In a highly competitive and mature sophisticated market, continuously develop strategies and initiatives to be ahead of the competition in order to identify and target potential incremental business, and increase market share across all appropriate business segments. Provide guidance, support and develop capabilities of the UK South sales team to accomplish the company’s commercial objectives in respect of leisure and special market sales.
  • Monitor market and competitor activity for all the leisure segments and recommend price and marketing initiatives to attain the commercial objective. Research, identify and recommend appointment of new agents, identify new markets and opportunities for potential sales development, and seek at all times to increase market share at optimum yields. Terminate existing agents as required. Monitor and review agency performance and effectiveness, police practices in accordance with UK regulatory requirements and the company’s commercial policies and practices.
  • Anticipate seasonal or special event market changes and implement tactical strategies to secure route market shares and revenue targets. Implement tactical initiatives at short notice instigated for EK corporate requirements; to support routes and markets over and above the agreed marketing plan for the UK.
  • Undertake market, route, revenue and demographic analysis as required to examine potential markets and new routes as required by HQ planning or commercial departments. Liaise and negotiate with Key partner Carriers involved in strategic alliances as required.
  • Ensure EK fares and tariffs are distributed effectively/accurately and adequate training is provided to the trade to ensure optimum use of the EK route system and value added products. On a monthly basis produce a report with a market overview supported with achieved/planned key activities. Monitor and assess agents for any credit worthiness risks using available tools (RDOC, CRM AI app) and aim to mitigate risks as effectively as possible
  • Develop, negotiate and agree incentive and fidelity agreements with appointed agents, to include threshold targets and minimum sales levels; agree individual agency sales & marketing strategies and marketing support funds on achievement
  • Recommend marketing initiatives to negate competitor activity or to give EK a value added advantage; adopt a proactive working practice as opposed to reactive; contribute to the “market leader” corporate positioning. Ensure all marketing funds are directed to strategic or tactical revenue generation schemes in accordance with the UK marketing plan
  • Develop road show activities and participate in their production and implementation. Attend trade shows as required and develop/recommend appropriate literature and associated material to support the event.
  • Evaluate and introduce tactical agency and/or consultant reward schemes to achieve the UK marketing plan objectives and maintain EK “top of mind” awareness.
  • Ensure the leisure sales team and other sales team members are provided with the necessary guidance and development to enable them to perform their tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Monitor EK presence and validate display accuracy on the major GDSs and agency in house systems, to ensure optimum exposure and user friendly information.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Educated to at least degree level
  • Thorough knowledge/experience in all aspects of the airline sales environment including in a management capacity, leading, developing and guiding a team
  • Knowledge of Excel, MSWord, PowerPoint and E-mail
  • Knowledge of Reservations and fares
  • Knowledge of IATA pro-rata and accounting procedures would be advantageous
  • Ability to analyse and present statistical information
