Job Description

 

  • The Maintenance and Fleet Planning Manager is responsible for the dnata Technical Services (dTS) GSE & Cargo maintenance planning, material planning and fleet strategy. You will support and partner with other dTS functions (e.g. Engineering, Workshops, Special Shops, dTS DWC) and non-dTS (e.g. P&L, Finance, Operations) to ensure optimum planning and intelligent inventory management and to ensure governmental and regulatory requirements are fully met.
  • As the Maintenance and Fleet Planning Manager, you will utilise your expertise in Maintenance Management and Telematics systems to analyse fleet data and embed the dnata Preventative Maintenance and GSE Fleet Strategies, with a key focus on shifting to predictive maintenance and the fleet transition to electric and sustainable technologies. The overriding deliverable is to plan for safe, reliable, ground support and Cargo equipment at the optimum total cost of ownership for the company.

Plan

  • Use business analytics, Maintenance Management System (MMS) and GSE Telematics, optimise cost effective maintenance, operation and asset serviceability, through continuous improvement programs, in accordance with dnata Airport Operation's strategy.
  • Partners with dTS operations departments to create plans that ensure continuous improvement, quality excellence and optimised allocation of spares and manpower.
  • Ensures optimum CAPEX (spend) control, including forecasting and recommending fleet requirements for the business (GSE & Cargo).
  • Forecasts requirements for future manpower, including required skills, new hires and training.
  • Designs, develops and implements a strategic maintenance program based on industry best practices, with an emphasis on preventive and predictive maintenance; focussed on a long term plan of Reliability Centred Maintenance.
  • Creates a centre of excellence for the Material and Maintenance Planning process, ensuring the team creates accurate and data driven approaches for forecasts and maintenance plans for both GSE & Cargo.
  • Ensures that planning departments processes, strategic objectives and KPIs are fit for purpose and aligned with the various dTS sections to enable them to meet their departmental KPIs.
  • Assesses the IT systems used within dTS, ensuring that the best in class systems are implemented and used effectively throughout the department.
  • Ensures effective use of the Maintenance Management System, that users have sufficient training and that quality data is going into and out of the system.

 Deploy

  • Ensures a safe cost effective maintenance operation by determining and forecasting resource requirements (manpower, spare parts, tools and equipment), and supporting the work management processes by work identification, planning, scheduling, resource allocation and backlog management review and feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Manages an interface between the various dTS sections and other internal and/or external departments to ensure resource availability (manpower, spare parts, tools and equipment) and a smooth execution of maintenance activities to meet the SLA commitments for all dTS customers.
  • Manages the inventory control system and liaise with all relevant parts inventory stakeholders to forecast demand and establish inventory strategies ensuring availability in a cost effective manner to meet the maintenance plans.
  • Ensure all evaluation of technical activities, asset specifications and standards & safety requirements are completed on time and to the highest quality.
  • Monitors costs through effective management of staff, identify areas where productivity improvements can be made.

Lead

  • Champions the use of available data and optimise the use of various systems in the dTS department (MMS, Fuel Management System (FMS), Telematics, dEBI, ERP, Sharepoint, Document Management System (DMS) etc.) to support the planning and maintenance functions and making data driven decisions.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external customers to ensure that their needs are understood so that they can meet their SLAs and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Leads by example representing the dnata VMVs, demonstrates and ensures a collaborative approach with other dnata users and support departments.
  • Manages performance of the Central and Group Maintenance Planners, ensuring that standardisation is applied throughout and that there is continuous improvement to the planning process. -Tracks FTE performance, ensuring compliance to safety, processes and procedures. Ensure staff are motivated and recognised, and build skills and knowledge through appropriate training, rotations, etc.
  • Manages and monitors dTS Outsource staff requirements to ensure KPI’s are being achieved, services delivered as per contracts, and maximum value out of the service providers is being achieved.

Execute

  • Measures performance metrics and provides regular communication to Business Analysts and customers relative to SLAs and standards, execution of specific work and user data relative to their assets.
  • Ensures that the Total Cost of Ownership of assets maintained by the various dTS sections is optimised.
  • Ensures efficient support to the maintenance operations, making sure that dTS focus on value added activities and can potentially look to outsource non-value added activities.
  • Reviews the operation/performance/reliability of assets maintained constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, pro-actively anticipate problems, and ensure safe operation and identify opportunities for improvement and unit cost reduction.
  • Liaises with other sections of dTS to ensure that all plans, processes and procedures are aligned to allow dTS to meet its departmental KPI’s.
  • Ensures compliance to all relevant safety policies, procedures and controls across the department to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environmental and sustainability attitude.
  • Overall accountability for the efficiency in planning, spares, manpower and facility utilisation
  • Partners with P&L to ensure efficient management of contracts/annual maintenance contracts, blanket purchase agreements (BPA’s) warranties, and deliveries.
  • Partners with dAO Commercial team to manage external customer contracts, ensure they are renewed on-time, delivered efficiently, and are profitable.
  • Manages small to medium size projects within dTS and/or for dTS customers that focus on improved efficiency, reduced operating costs and supporting new revenue making ventures.
  • Supports in developing the fleet management strategy, the strategy must be cognisant of data from telematics, Resource Planning, technological advances and green innovation, harmonizing equipment types, reducing overall unit and operating costs and C02 emissions.
  • Directs performance and modelling programs that include measurable KPIs/customer service levels, revenue, productivity, performance analysis and appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provides support to other dnata Stations (outside of UAE) as and when required and proactively share best practice COE knowledge.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferably (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Automotive)
  • Airport Operations
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in a Planning Management and/or Fleet Management role, including at least 2 years in a ground handling provider or large commercial vehicle fleet/plant operator.
  • Knowledge and experience in maintenance management systems
  • Telematics for the purposes of maintenance and material planning, fleet planning, and asset management.
  • Budgeting and cost control in a maintenance environment IT and computer literacy
  • Management, communication, development and leadership skills
  • Safety Awareness in ground handling operations and maintenance activities
