Job Description

OVERVIEW

Reports directly to the Standardization Instructor Pilot or Battalion Commander on all related type aircraft maintenance operations. Assists and advises the Battalion Commander and Maintenance Officer in all material and maintenance planning for type aircraft. Responsible for conducting Limited and General Maintenance Test Flights to include acceptance flights of type aircraft. Conducts training of maintenance pilots and personnel and performs annual maintenance evaluations in accordance with the applicable Aircrew Training Manuals. Serves as the Battalion Commanders' representatives in determining the airworthiness of aircraft.

Will also be responsible for

1. Performs as MTP on type aircraft and serves as Pilot in Command while accomplishing maintenance test flights, acceptance flights, and support missions as prescribed by operational requirements.
2. Must ensure that all aircraft inspection procedures, maintenance practices, standards, and records comply with all FAA/ICAO, JAC Maintenance, TAMMS, Vendor, and Group 18 regulations.
3. Obtains briefing information on purpose of flight, weather, operation procedures, intelligence, and special instructions. Prepares flight plans considering such factors as altitude, terrain, weather, aircraft, crew capabilities, threats, operational and training requirements and flight procedures.
4. Ensuring that all type aircraft are being maintained to airworthiness standards prescribed by applicable regulations, technical manuals, and airworthiness directives, and authorized good maintenance practices. Assists in all logistical procurement issues related to aviation maintenance.
5. Ensures the aircraft is pre-flight inspected, loaded, equipped, and manned for mission.
6. Inspect engines, fuselage, and control surfaces for mechanical and structural soundness. Inspect and test mission equipment for proper operation. Ensures that weight and balance is correct, fuel supply is adequate, and survival and rescue equipment is properly stowed.
7. Brief crew members and non-crew members on safety, emergency procedures, and scope of the mission. Pilot aircraft and command crew to accomplish assigned mission. Perform prescribed test maneuvers, and instrument readings, and records results and test specifications as prescribed by the contract or operational requirements.
8. Test both normal and emergency functions of systems. Coordinate and direct flight phases of test or support missions with other aircraft. Maintain flight records and report observations made during mission. Orient and brief crew members and non-crew members on duties and responsibilities, flight operation, and mission profile.
9. Provide detailed and effective communications with ground maintenance personnel and/or 1st and 2nd line maintenance manager on results of test or acceptance flights. Determine need to re-fly or certify aircraft for flight and return to services.
10. During non-flight periods is capable of and performs limited duties as technical inspector, inspecting maintenance, and modification actions on assigned aircraft.
11. Must be able to work flexible hours as deemed by the battalion Standardization Instructor Pilot or the Battalion Commander.
12. Conduct training of maintenance crew members. Instruct military and contract pilots in the conduct of maintenance test flights and maintenance operational checks. Perform MTP and ME training and evaluations I/A/W applicable ATM. Maintain proficiency and currency requirements I/A/W applicable ATM.

NATIONALITY
No Restriction

QUALIFICATION
-High School Graduate, BA or BS preferred.
-Graduate of AMOC Phase I course and (AMOC Phase II) or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE
-Minimum 10 years of Aviation maintenance experience as an MTP or ME.
-Three years experience within the last five years piloting type aircraft.
-Factory training in aircraft models to fly or other combination of experience and education that meet the requirements may be substituted. UH60- minimum 1000 hours pilot-in-command time and 300 hours in type, 400 hours MTP, 200 hours Maintenance Evaluator.
-CH47- minimum 1000 hours pilot-in-command time and 300 hours in type, 400 hours MTP, 200 hours Maintenance Evaluator. 407- Minimum 2000 hours in type, i.e., 407, 206, OH58A, C, D, civilian equivalent or similar, 1500 MTP, 500 Instructor Pilot.
-FENNEC- minimum 2000 hours in type or category, 1500 MTP, 500 Instructor Pilot.
-Must have experience in maintenance and material planning.
