Job Description

  • Conducts structural (static/dynamic) tests for Aircraft seat/cabin components
  • Additionally, able to support flammability (oil/vertical/heat release/smoke density/toxicity) tests for seat/cabin components
  • Perform standard engineering assignments that are required to meet material strength and product deformation allowables
  • Analyse structural components for stresses by hand calculations using knowledge of Strength of Materials
  • Select engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations
  • Reviews and approves design changes from certification perspective for weight sensitive and optimized design solutions
  • Creates and compiles FAA certification documentation for submittal to OEMs, Airline customers and Regulatory agencies
  • Material selection and material specifications correlation
  • Authors, checks and directs preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects
  • Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints
  • Specifically this role is responsible for managing daily, a team of engineers, with support from lead engineers. Responsible for Certification within Integrated Project Teams for projects/programs.
  • To manage a team with an appropriate mix of skills to deliver engineering solutions which bring benefit to Collins Aerospace and/or its customers. To provide technical leadership and direction to the team.
  • Capacity planning all workload within the department
  • Develop the systems and procedures within the department to create a ‘lean’ environment supporting the catalogue approach of minimal lead-time
  • Must have experience of executing complex programs from DFCR to TSO, with the support of 4-5 team members
  • Excellent to have WS travel experience and interactions with various cross functional groups
  • Identify key design/analysis/certification constraints
  • Liaise with product stakeholders (customer, Engineering, Manufacturing/Production and end users etc) to identify potential benefits (weight and space savings, reliability, costs etc).
  • Responsibilities include partnering with HRD for interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Must to able to interface on all levels within the organization including, Engineering, Analysis, Quality Assurance, Operations, Finance, HRD including where appropriate Corporative interfaces
  • Sets objectives and guides others on execution/approach for achievement of operational results
  • Maintain’s good work ethics and promote team culture
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong Engineering Fundamentals and Strength of Materials
  • Hand Calculations
  • Good Analytical Skills
