Job Description


  • Responsible for managing the assigned base’s Maintenance Operations day-to-day maintenance functions activities (i.e. planning, scheduling, preventive maintenance and all contract requirements and deliverables, etc.) by providing cost-effective, timely maintenance and repair services to the aircrafts and assets, and the availability of assets and equipment’s to achieve the maximum utilization impacting customer delivery and business requirements, GCAA rules and regulations and as per FAA, TAMMS & GAL’s policies and approved standards and procedures.

    Under the direction of the Base Manager Operations, manages the implementation of the maintenance planning at the assigned base to ensure that repair and maintenance services are accomplished efficiently to the most productive and cost effective manner.
    2.Supervises the day-to-day operations of the Base Maintenance Operations section to ensure that work processes are implemented as designed and comply with established policies, processes and procedures.
    3.Manages the achievement of objectives by setting individual goals and objectives, managing performance, developing staff and providing formal and informal feedback in order to maximize overall performance and engagement.
    4.Reviews and monitors plans against the operation business plan, and understands any issues being faced.
    5.Ensure that all delegated tasks and initiatives are completed up to the desired quality standards and within the assigned budgets and timelines; report to the Section Manager on a periodic basis.
    6.Develops preventative maintenance schedules to cover all relevant aircraft maintenance so that it is maintained in optimum working order and breakdowns are minimized.
    7.Monitors the usage of materials, spares and consumables to ensure that consumption is consistent with budgeted assumptions.
    8.Contributes towards the on-going review of the physical condition of the base operational assets to ensure that those assets are in a suitable condition to allow GAL to fulfil its strategic objectives and comply with any relevant legislation.
    9.Assists the Supply Chain function in the negotiations with contractors providing a clear statement of work and understanding
    10.Maintains relationships with third-party providers, through the Supply Chain function, of operational and maintenance personnel so that GAL is able to fulfill its operational service, safety, environmental and cost targets without unnecessary addition to the fixed overheads.
    11.Reviews all operational reports and takes any necessary corrective actions to ensure that all aircraft maintenance activities take place according to defined operational procedures and a timely service is delivered to customers.
    12.On an on-going basis, examines current operational processes to identify and implement potential operational improvements that will positively impact upon service, safety, environmental and cost performance
    13.Manages effectively the achievement of the objectives through assisting the Department Head in managing the maintenance operations – setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal – in order to maximize the performance of the maintenance staffs
    14.Ensures compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the Maintenance Operations at the Facility to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality aircraft maintenance service and a responsible environmental attitude
    15.Contributes towards the on-going review of the physical condition of the Facility operational assets to ensure that those assets are in a suitable condition to allow the company to fulfil its strategic objectives and comply with any relevant legislation
    16.Manages the implementation of operational business processes at the Facility which will facilitate the identification and consistent application of maintenance best practice and the realization of synergies across the maintenance operations at the Facility
    17.Recommends efficient budget planning and assist the Base Manager in monitoring financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs, and areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized
    18.Recommends improvements to the maintenance operations policy and manages the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of maintenance operations activity at the Facility, so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective maintenance service to the customer
    19.Develops and implements organizational and functional charts to establish lines of authority and specific Responsibilities.
    20.Sponsors opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programs and projects that reflect international best practices and changes in the competitive environment.
    21.Ensures direct reports adhere to and support all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls, promoting employee safety, legislative compliance and to promote a responsible environmental attitude.
    22.Implements the day-to-day operations assigned for the section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures.
    23.Prepares statements and reports, timely and accurately to meet GAL and departmental requirements, policies and standards.
    24.Prepares function statements and reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet the requirements of GAL and department policies and standards.

QUALIFICATION

  • -Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Business Science in Engineering or any related discipline.
    -Postgraduate degree/ related certification would be an added advantage.
    -Must possess knowledge of FAA regulations and TAMMS.
    -Maintenance Test Pilot graduate preferred.
    -Minimum 8 - 10 years of related experience in an aerospace maintenance and aircraft operation environment, preferably in military, of which at least 5 years in a similar position in project management or operations management capacity.

EXPERIENCE

  • -Minimum 8 years’ experience in supervisory role in an aerospace maintenance and aircraft operating environment.
    --Must have experience with logistical life cycle contracts and the material planning requirements of multiple platforms/ aircraft.
