Job Description

Synopsis

Responsible for all Structural Repair activities. These include the development of an effective Aircraft Structures & Composite Repair operation, and providing strategic direction for the Structures & Composite repair department within Airframe Services to minimize costs and drive greater efficiency. In addition, the position requires continuous improvement assessment of the structural repair turnaround processes of Airframe Services.

Accountabilities

• Develop, write and implement Technical Manual Procedures required of an effective aircraft Structures & Composite Repair operation, in line with GCAA, EASA and FAA regulatory standards and to introduce continuous improvement techniques and processes to remain at the forefront of the aircraft structural repair industry.
• Accountable for Quality Control of all Structures & Composite repair procedures, resulting in compliance with GCAA, EASA and FAA regulations and standards.
• Responsible for the planning and execution of all Structures & Composite repair projects to maintain and meet the operational standards required of a 5 star airline
• Responsible for cost control of all Structures & Composite repair activities resulting in compliance with annual budgetary targets.
• Accountable for aircraft Structures & Composite repair staff to remain current with regards to the stipulation of their qualifications by planning the initial and continuation training and ensuring compliance to safety, regulatory and company requirements.
• Develop, manage and implement shift patterns for aircraft Structures & Composite repair staff to deliver an effective resource coverage in line with regulatory requirements of GCAA, EASA and FAA. 
• Develop, manage and implement a training plan for aircraft Structures & Composite repair staff to ensure Human Factors and Human Performance principles are applied and adhered to in the working environment.
• Actively encourage aircraft Structures & Composite repair staff to engage in Etihad’s Safety Management System and Safety Culture by supporting the raising of Occurrence Reports and Risk Assessments.
• Responsible for Health Safety Environment (HSE) procedures and practices.
• Continuous Cost control improvements, product and man power/ resource planning.
• Ensures full utilization of available labour and resources to achieve planned operational targets
• Manage department performance reviews and perform continuation training for Structures and Composite staff to maximize potential, increase productivity and high end product standards

Education & Experience

Qualification & Education:
Tertiary qualifications that meet the eligibility requirements for membership as a chartered engineer (e.g. bachelor degree / Diploma in the field of aeronautical, mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification through experience.)

Experience:

• Minimum 8 years aviation industry experience in Aircraft Structural repairs and Modifications 
• Experience managing composite and structure repair and maintenance operations within MRO.
• People management experience with ability to manage large team.

Training & Knowledge:

• Knowledge of aircraft engineering and project management
•          Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•          Fluent in English.
•          High level of proficiency in computer literacy
