Job Description

 

The Material Planner is responsible for both demand management and inventory planning of specific product lines. The Material Planner ensures an adequate supply of product to service customer needs while minimizing working inventory investment by assessing demand activity. The planner will reflect demand changes in the planning systems to ensure high accuracy of forecast needs and accuracy in inventory records, item usage history and forecasting files.

Will also be responsible for:

  • Examines documents, material or products and monitors work processes to assess completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards and specifications.
  • Reviews documents such as production schedules, work orders, or staffing tables, to determine personnel or materials requirements or material priorities.
  • Coordinates with production or shipping activities to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.
  • Maintains inventories of materials or supplies necessary to meet production demands.
  • Ensures accuracy of the ERP-Oracle item master and analyzes the requirements of selected customer.
  • Designs and generates weekly and monthly statistical forecast reports
  • Developing min-max level, participate in parts stratification.
  • Works closely with functional experts (Purchasing, PMO, Commercial, Operations, Engineering, Finance and IT)
  • Establishes, conducts & continuously improves best forecasting techniques, methods and statistical models for creating and maintaining inventory levels approved by management.
  • Assembles and analyzes all pertinent data elements (usage history, lead-times, seasonality, market trends, aircraft platform analysis, inventory, etc.) to maintain established operational readiness metrics.
  • Prepares reports and communicates forecast and inventory measurements to management (forecast accuracy, inventory plan vs. targets).
  • Coordinate MRP alignment with operations build plan.
  • Provides LT analysis and recommends ordering material on forecast as necessary, based on projected production plan.
  • Works with purchasing to ensure 100% on time material delivery as per MRP.
  • Analyzes inventory levels and places purchase requisition for inventoried goods.
  • Provides planning support for all areas of the business converting material request to purchase requisition.
  • Tracks and monitors the progress of all inbound shipments.
  • Identifies current and potential product shortages, develops and executes recovery, advises interested parties of status and recovery plans.
  • Maintains and updates master files.
  • Develops systems and procedures to meet service and inventory turn objective.
  • Maintains accuracy of all production, engineering and maintenance operations to secure on time delivery and production scheduling efficiencies and inventory parameters.
  • Prepare and maintain the detailed material usage forecasts.
  • Supports in achieving the Material Planning KPIs
  • Utilizes Oracle MRP planning tools supplemented with MS Excel and other tools
  • Contributes to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of the Supply Chain processes
  • Works with management teams to identify, analyze and resolve inventory-related issues arising at the various bases
  • Assists in overseeing material planning activities, which include initial provisioning and re-provisioning for all components and spares across all organizations
  • Designs, develops and implements performance measurement for the Material Planning system that
  • will allow for process tracking and improvement
  • Recommends improvements to departmental policy and directs the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of Material Planning so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers
  • Reviews and prepares reports pertaining to Material Planning timely and accurately to meet GAL and departmental requirements, policies and standards
  • Ensures that accountabilities for the implementation of improvement opportunities are completed within the assigned deadlines.
  • Performs other related duties or assignments as directed.

QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent
    - Lean Management Certification (preferred) (Six Sigma / ACE / LEAN)

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an aerospace maintenance and aircraft operating environment, preferably in military, of which at least 2 years in a similar position in Inventory Planning environment.
