The Principal Quality Assurance Engineer demonstrates a thorough understanding in analysing system design, development and quality practices. As a passionate advocate of quality you are able to draw upon your experience to assess the maturity of quality practices, mentor teams and utilise your stakeholder skills to support continuous improvement via strategic planning, implementation and measurement of quality improvements within in complex ecosystem.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

• As an active leader of the Quality Engineering Chapter community you will share advice, discuss adoption of best practices and risk management with the other leads.
• Vocal champion and practitioner of Automation, Agile testing practices and Lean Software Development.
• Position yourself as a thought leader through testing specialism and coaching and mentoring a team of high performing IT professionals, providing continuous feedback and facilitating professional development.
• Ensure that the Quality Engineering processes and standards are being consistently implemented within a scaled agile framework.
• Develop and design all-encompassing Test Strategies which are holistic in their approach spanning automation, integration, business process and data integrity.
• Provide proactive, well thought out, candid, diligent, and fact-based communication to senior management teams, peers and other project stakeholders.
• Ensure appropriate mechanisms are in place for the collection of data to support reporting at portfolio and enterprise level to demonstrate KPI compliance.
• Building an inclusive community of practice that enables Quality Engineering Chapter members across multiple business areas to share ideas, discuss best practice and proactively help and support each other.

Qualifications & Experience

You will hold the following desirable qualifications or have equivalent experience:

- ISTQB - Advanced Test Manager

- BCS Agile Practitioner

- iSQI Certified Agile Tester

- PRINCE2 Foundation

EXPERIENCE

• 8+ years in quality related roles with increasing responsibility, impact, and scope within a digital or ecommerce environment.
• 5+ years of experience as a Software Quality Engineering lead or equivalent position looking after multiple products.
• Experience in providing product input on business process flows and scenario mapping for business solutions.
• Experience of understanding and applying system thinking to advanced technology solutions for large, complex organisations in a multi-functional environment.

SKILLS

Mandatory skills

• Strong understanding how all elements of the software ecosystem work together and can develop a Quality Engineering strategy to support the overall product development strategy.
• Demonstrable experience of leading large Software Quality Engineering teams in an Agile environment.
• Excellent grasp of latest testing trends and technologies.
• Excellent knowledge of automation methodologies, processes, and tools with 5+ years of hands on experience.
• Proficiency in programming languages, coding design patterns, best practices and code reviews.
• Demonstrable skills in designing and developing UI & API automation frameworks wih enterpeise and open source tools.
• Hands on experience using CI tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps or equivalent.
• Good understanding of branching and merging strategies using, GitHub or Bitbucket or similar tools.

Preferred skills

• Strong understanding of driving adoption of scaled Agile Testing and Test Automation across the teams.
• Aware of the latest testing and technology trends and using them to improve daily practices.

• Strong oral and written communication skills with demonstrable experience communicating cross-functionally with all areas of the organisation in formal and informal settings.
• Renowned leader who can influence large teams to continually improve.
• Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable.
• Strong people management skills with a proven ability to hire and grow teams of Quality Assurance Engineers.
