Job Description

This role provides oversight of all technical issues and be accountable for the technical performance of heat treatment and Brazing processes including vacuum and atmospheric heat treatment, Activated Diffusion healing and fluoride ion Clean/stripping for the repair of aircraft engine components. The special process engineer shall troubleshoot issues that arise in day-to-day operations, implement process improvements, and introduce new processes

The Special Process Engineer (Brazing) is responsible for ensuring that heat treatment and coating processes meet quality requirements and operational objectives at GEAES Singapore. This will include:

  • Generating work instructions and operating procedures for furnaces and coating preparation and application.
  • Implementing new coating processes in collaboration with product engineers and repair development engineers.
  • Ensuring that all heat treatment and coating processes comply with quality requirements, conduct investigations, and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Working with operations to improve furnace utilization and labour efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Working with operations and maintenance personnel to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Preparing technical specifications for the purchase and upgrading of heat treatment and coating equipment.
  • Conducting Risk Assessments and ensure that heat treat, and coating processes are operated in compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations and Policies.
  • Conduct buy-off, machine qualification and process substantiation.
  • Training for special process technicians

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science
  • 2+ years’ experience in the aerospace, Brazing or materials processing industry
  • Good understanding of metallurgical and chemical processes used in the repair of aircraft engine components.
  • Good knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma principles
  • Highly adaptable in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience in an Aerospace Manufacturing/MRO environment would be an added advantage
