Job Description

Manage the day to day delivery of the workpack preparation and analysis team, ensuring that all task cards which are delivered to the production team have been reviewed, checked and meet the standards expected from the production team. Ensure that all the data is extracted from each card to allow the senior planning team to accomplish detailed planning activities and communicating/coordinating the detailed plans with support departments.

 Job Outline:

- Generic:

  • Manage the day to day work assignment for estimation, work pack preparation.
  • Provide leadership, training and guidance to the planning officers and supervisors.
  • Identify and lead projects to continuously improve the Production Planning Department and improve the service provided to Operations.
  • Work pack Preparation:
  • Manage the technical review of all tasks which could be called up by Maintenance Planning to ensure the following is identified: task intent, special requirements (jacking, defueling, repairs, shop input, test flights etc.) dependencies, materials required, tooling required, new supporting task cards required and any other information which will aid the planning process.
  • Review all new/amended tasks and ensure that they are routed to the Senior Engineer where necessary.
  • Ensure all issues identified as part of the technical review process are followed up with the concerned departments and resolved prior to the start of each input.
  • Manage all materials and tools that need to be available for the planned inputs in Base Maintenance. Complete required MQ adjustment based on known component plans and duplicated materials pre-input.
  • Ensure the workpack for each input is physically complete prior to each input.
  • Co-Ordination with 3rd Parties for planned check intervention based on published workflow plans.
  • Co-Ordination with workshops/GSE/Docking/ETS and other internal departments to alert them to the work that will be assigned to them based on each aircraft input.

- Estimation:

  • Review all Estimate Report of Man-hours for each input for correctness and accuracy to support the workflow and manpower planning process.
  • Ensure fleet-wise database for Task Estimation is up to date with step wise details for man-hours and highlights impacting production work flow plan for both Routine & Non-Routine tasks.
  • Review Post Check Analysis for correctness and accuracy per completed inputs to ensure technical integrity of the estimation database through continuous study of production performance in terms clocking / man-hour utilization.
  • Study first time and complex maintenance tasks and modifications through liaising with production LAEs and observing the same in action as required to determine the accurate man-hour per trade per critical steps
  • Create `Facilitation Cards? as per work package requirement as well as per necessity of Production in terms of facility/check activity to represent sequences of maintenance activities through activity based documentation.
  • Review fleet-wise defect analysis and trend monitoring to determine technical impact for future layovers in terms of Non-Routine estimation and manpower allocation taking into consideration check type, age, and in service issues.
  • Ensure experience gained from Post Check Analysis, feed backs from Production, manufacturer and other sources are updated and improvements built back into the database.

Qualifications & Experience

Engineering.Other :

  • Qualifications: Work Pack Preparation & Estimation: National / Higher National Diploma (12+2 or equivalent) in Aeronautical Engineering (Mechanical, Electronic or Avionics) or licensed on an EK fleet type. 7 years? experience within Aircraft Maintenance or Production Planning at an airline or 3rd party Maintenance facility. Knowledge/skills: - Knowledge of aircraft systems, power plant and components. - Thorough understanding of Aircraft Regulatory requirements and Aircraft Maintenance documents. - Knowledge of MS Office applications i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint. - Knowledge of ULTRAMAIN is an advantage. - Excellent people management skills.
