Job Description

The Production Quality Specialist (NDT) is responsible for establishing and continually improving customer satisfaction as per AS9100D, NADCAP & relevant GE SPTC approval norms. The employee will be responsible for Aviation NDT operations for X-ray (CR) & FPI which include addressing the key Quality deliverables in the COE including day to day process operations, analysis, Issue Resolution, production Alignment & Fulfillment , personnel Trainings & qualification plans

Essential Responsibilities

  • Work closely with quality & production teams and demonstrate accountability for the NDT & Quality objectives.
  • Work closely with Quality system and manufacturing team to study, analyze, take corrective and preventive actions on quality indicators.
  • Ensure that the products meet quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with Quality Managers to discuss and resolve product quality issues.
  • Train & lead qualification of NDT personnel per NAS 410 qualifications & aligning with the Process
  • Update customers in a timely fashion regarding the status of quality issues or any requests.
  • Participate in product quality planning and control process based on customer’s specifications and requirements.
  • Inform Quality & Manufacturing team regarding updates on NDT process notifications regarding product quality.
  • Prepare and update all necessary NDT process control logs & process qualification sheets.
  • Ensure identifying and developing problem solving methodologies to resolve quality issues.
  • Assist in new product development activities to avoid quality issues.
  • Coordinate AS / NADCAP & other relevant audits.
  • Work with Quality Managers to improve quality management system based on audit results.
  • Address customer issues in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Hands on experience of using Problem solving tools such as 8D , Minimize defects
  • Work with customer representative on any deviation requests, customer complaints and closure actions,
  • Coordinate NDT training needs. Facilitate, train, and coach cross-functional employees in NDT methods as appropriate.
  • Initiate the continual improvement through quality audit programs, through the assessment / screening of various sources of non-conformances and by driving the implementation or corrective actions identified through Root Cause Analysis for In-process improvements.
  • Highest Levels of Personal Integrity and Safety Mindset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 4-8 Years of Experience in aerospace / aviation Engineering industry with on-hand experience on FPI & Computed Radiography Methods
  • NAS 410 Level 2 – FPI / CR
  • Working knowledge of NADCAP and other Aerospace Prime requirements.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes and provide solutions
  • Strong hands on experience in performing quality inspection checks process control checks & working per GE-Aviation specific customer P specs, GE visual inspection of finished & purchased product norms.
  • Ability to handle diverse activities simultaneously and Ability to work in a matrix organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with good oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of AS 9100 , AMS , S1000 / S1002 standards.
  • Knowledge of Aviation / Aerospace NDT standards , ASTM Standards , working knowledge of NAS 410 qualification requirements
  • Documented OJT / past certification copies NAS 410
  • Knowledge of Basic Lean and Six Sigma Methodology
