Technical Operations

Technical Operations is the maintenance, repair and overhaul division of United. The department includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, data scientists, strategic and business analysts, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.

Job overview and responsibilities 

If you like to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment and like to solve complex problems, then join a dynamic, enthusiastic, and innovative team in United Airlines Technical Operations Planning. As a Planning Analyst in our Project Control team, you will work with others in Planning, Engineering, and Supply Chain to optimize the accomplishment of engineering projects which prescribe mandatory or reliability-critical maintenance. You will use data analysis and problem-solving skills to find the best ways to drive project completion in both the line and heavy maintenance environments. This position requires critical, strategic thinking combined with team work to ensure successful completion of important projects. As an Analyst on the Technical Operations Planning team, you will be responsible to:

  • Monitor the status of high priority and mandatory projects to identify risks to the schedule
  • Work with contributing teams in Planning, Materials, and Engineering to resolve issues in project progress
  • Use creative problem solving to propose corrective actions and new plans for projects going off-track
  • Create and update project progress reports on high visibility projects for leadership and other stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain project scheduling rules to ensure efficient and consistent scheduling of projects
  • Review changes to the aircraft maintenance schedules to assess the need for additional visits to accomplish projects
  • Operate within a team environment, across departments and with all levels of management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with a passion for delivering results

This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.

 

Required 

  • Bachelor’s in engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Supply Chain/Logistics, Business, or related field
  • Basic experience using data analysis and quantitative modeling techniques (e.g. statistical, optimization, simulation, spreadsheet)
  • Basic knowledge of and interest in aircraft systems
  • Intermediate Excel
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with ability to effectively interact at all levels (including executive) and team with all business partners
  • Ability to handle simultaneous projects and adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Up to 20% travel to US in a year may be required depending on projects
  • Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

 

Preferred

  • Experience in the aviation industry such as planning, supply chain, engineering, or related field
  • Advanced Excel (VBA and Macros)
  • Data Visualization (Spotfire, Tableau, etc.)
