Job Description

Job Purpose

To manage, monitor and ensure timely and safe transportation/shipment of the “Rotables” components of Air Arabia fleet and 3rd Party aircrafts from the technical stores to the designated and appointed service providers; follows up on the repair and redelivery of the repaired components back to technical stores to allow timely execution of respective maintenance tasks and maintaining of stock level.

Key Result Responsibilities

  • Partners with the “Planning Engineer” to prepare service orders for the components planned and scheduled for repair as per approved standards; coordinates with service providers to ensure timely and proper repair of the identified components using available suitable reporting tools.
  • Maintains an up-to-date database of all “Rotables” components to follow up on repair with service providers at the earliest, controls the “Rotables” pool of components and ensures the unused or unserviceable components are sent back to pool to meet core return deadlines.
  • Coordinates with “Warranty Engineer” to prepare necessary warranty documents to ensure the “TAT -Turn Around Time” of the components as per agreed terms and conditions, also intimates him/her with details whenever exploring possibilities of warranty claims.
  • Coordinates with “Stores” and “Quality Assurance” to finalize the list of expired components based on the shelf-life details; takes necessary action to replace those items immediately within approved budget and thereby maintains an optimized stock level of the same.
  • Conducts necessary cost-benefit analysis to evaluate repairs and recommend actions; advises the “Technical Procurement/Stores Supervisor” with list of the vital parts to be scrapped or deemed as “BER- Beyond Economical Repair “promptly in order to allow maintaining float spares consequently.
  • Provides the “Stores Supervisor” with weekly shortages report of the consignment stock whilst ensuring he/she is kept well informed with any received damaged components if any.
  • Liaises with the freight/courier services companies regarding the various kinds of shipments (including dangerous goods); negotiates shipment services prices and formalities; prepares necessary shipping documents and approvals to ensure timely and safe transportation (export/import) of all items.
  • Manages the packing formalities and preparations through the designated service provider as per agreed standards and requirements to avoid damages and hazards including the packing and shipment of aircraft engines.  Documents the shipments condition by taking necessary pictures and keeping records of the same.
  • Maintains necessary database of contracts, SLAs, and certifications of all the appointed vendors ensuring validity and renewal of contracts in compliance with the Quality Assurance, GCAA and other regulatory bodies’ requirements. Contributes the vendor’s assessment and evaluation process by giving objective input on their performance.
  • Maintains up-to-date records both in system and files of all documentation related to the returned components to be referred to whenever needed.
  • Conducts necessary risk assessment to identify any health and safety hazards and report the same to concerned; takes necessary corrective measures to ensure no-re-occurrence.
  • Coordinates with the “Technical Buyers” on any aircraft parts “robbery” formalities to take place in case of AOG and as needed.
  • Takes necessary action to arrange for gate passes for trucks/vehicles used for transporting tires from/to Air Arabia allocated premises.

Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)

  • Bachelor degree in Management or equivalent from a recognized university; a degree in Aircraft Engineering/Aeronautical/Electro-Mechanical or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • Alternately, a higher diploma or certificate in the related field from a recognized university or engineering college combined with the needed experience and exposure.
  • IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations training certificate is a must.
  • Engineering Inventory Software certificate is a plus.
  • Project Management certificate, or alternately the proven corresponding working experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office skills.
  • Cost Control, Compliance, Budgeting and Quality Assurance trainings are an added value and some may be treated as conditional for this role.
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills: reporting, presentations, etc.
  • Fluent in English Language. 
  • Valid UAE Driving licence is required or ability to get the license in a short notice. 

Work Experience

  • The ability to work in a rotating shift pattern.
  • 3+ years of related working experience in a similar role handling “Rotables” in the Engineering Department in the Aviation industry; low cost airline is an advantage.
  • Specialized industry knowledge in procurement & inventory management systems.
  • Possesses appropriate knowledge of the UAE GCAA regulations pertaining to packing, shipment, acceptance, storage, issuance of aircraft parts to be repaired and the associated equipment used for aircraft maintenance.
  • Knowledge of “Rotables” pool management, TAT and stock level maintenance.
  • Experienced in Vendor relationship, contracts, and SLAs of technical nature.
  • Developed skills in cost-estimation analysis, handling budget expenditure against forecasting.
  • Experienced in working with a team with heavy work-load schedules and ad-hoc scenarios.
  • Capable of working in adherence to policies, procedures and operating manuals as per business needs and in line with adopted regulations and approved quality standards.
  • Demonstrates high accuracy and strong attention to details; capable of meeting deadlines always without compromising quality of outcome.
