Technical Operations/Maintenance

Technical Operations includes the maintenance, and overhaul of our aircraft. This includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Technical Operations Analytics team is looking for a passionate Senior Analyst to turn data into information and information into insight to drive business decisions. The group strives to get the right work done on the right aircraft at the right location at the right time. To do this, we partner with business owners to pursue analytical opportunities within maintenance planning, supply chain, aircraft health monitoring, aircraft engineering, maintenance execution, and maintenance programs, among other areas. We are seeking creative, driven, and detail-oriented individuals who enjoy tackling complex problems quantitatively. Individuals who have a desire to improve the performance of United's fleet and maintenance operation are encouraged to apply. This role requires not only analytics skills, but also strategic thinking and strong internal / external client relationships.

  • Mine relevant data from multiple sources, and use in creating analyses and models to identify key issues and trends
  • Review existing dashboards and performance indicators to modify, enhance, and develop new reports and metrics in coordination with Reporting team
  • Identify opportunities to improve United's maintenance operations and provide various tech ops divisions data driven insights through analytics
  • Develop improved analysis methodologies and statistical models to improve forecasts, operational and financial performance    
  • Continuously interface with business groups throughout Tech Ops & IT to understand organizational needs and design solutions
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on operational performance to organizational leaders

This position is offered on local terms and conditions.  Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.

Required 

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field like Math, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required
  • At least 3-4 years of analytics experience required, including manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high dimensionality data from various sources to highlight patterns and relationships
  • Deep understanding of data structures, relationships, and efficient transformations
  • Knowledge of predictive modeling, test design, and database querying
  • Proficiency writing complex queries and procedures using both traditional and modern technologies/languages (i.e. SQL, Python, Spark, etc.)
  • Data visualization skills using one or more reporting tools (i.e. Spotfire, Tableau, ggplot2, etc.)
  • Ability to work autonomously to learn from subject matter experts, identify gaps in data, and generate quantitative solutions to problems
  • Adept in building presentations for senior leadership team
  • Exposure to statistical and analytical methods
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
  • Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in a quantitative field and/or MBA preferred
  • At least 1 year of airline experience preferred
  • Familiarity with various parts of the data ecosystem (acquisition, engineering, storage, management, analysis, visualization, and deployment) preferred
  • Front-end development skills (i.e. JavaScript) preferred
  • Ability to scope new projects based on domain expertise preferred
