Job Description

We are looking for highly motivated people with proven track record to conduct research in control system design, real time optimization, first principles modeling of physical systems, estimation algorithms, analytics, model-based diagnostics and developing & deploying algorithms on edge hardware. You will work with engineering and product teams across various GE businesses like Renewable Energy, Gas Power, Digital, Aviation and Healthcare to develop technology and product roadmaps that define the disruptive future of GE’s Controls technologies.

  • Execute on Research programs to drive the Energy Transition strategy for GE with programs in grid, renewable energy, hybrids, microgrids and gas turbine controls.
  • Lead early stage technology development and mature these technologies from initial concept to successful product introduction.
  • Coordinate disruptive technology efforts in close collaboration with our GE businesses and ensure that such efforts are incorporated into long-term multi-generational technology and product road maps.
  • Providing thought leadership on disruptive technologies and market trends with a strong understanding of what the competition is doing.
  • Doctorate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Aeronautical Engineering field with a minimum of 5 years of experience OR Master’s degree in computer in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Aeronautical Engineering field with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated deep domain knowledge in the Model Based Controls, real-time controls, Real time optimization, Estimation and signal processing, model-based diagnostics, developing & deploying algorithms on edge hardware and advanced AI/ML based controls algorithms
  • Experience working on large research programs, writing successful R&D proposals, and demonstrated ability to take an idea from concept to a product.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary programs
  • Demonstrated capability to thrive in a matrixed team environment
  • Familiarity with multiple GE businesses and proven ability to leverage cross-business networks to achieve outcomes
  • Proven ability to manage risk and uncertainty for self and team within a dynamic priority-setting environment
  • Strong technical acumen paired with an ability to understand a wide range of technology domains
  • Influence, facilitation, and negotiation skills; boundary-less/solution-focused approach
  • Demonstrated ability to take an innovative idea from research to a product
  • Strong record of peer-reviewed journal publications and conference presentations
