Job Description


The Senior engineer – Static Accessories Systems will be a dynamic position which will be responsible for leading and executing multiple key initiatives within Static team and support requisition/project execution tasks on Inlet/Exhaust as required.
Following are the key focus areas for this role:
1. Lead & Coordinate execution of Decarbonization & carbon capture programs for Static team
2. Lead & Coordinate tools development & design/process automation for Static ideas with Digital teams
3. Lead and execute Hot SCR projects and be the lead for ITO & OTR execution on this system
4. Execute requisition projects & related tasks for Inlet/Exhaust systems for HDGT & Aero projects

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of the hydrogen blending, carbon capture & decarbonization efforts ongoing within the business.
  • Be the focal point for Static systems involvement in these NPIs and req projects and help ensure work scope, schedule & other delivery expectations are clear to the execution team
  • Be the channel of communication for smooth execution for the Decarbonization efforts with System team. Additionally, if needed, enable better communication with fluids/controls/PDE/ others as relevant.
  • Lead and drive tools development & automation of design & project execution processes to drive productivity.
  • For automation efforts, the role would need to work & collaborate closely with Digital team and the Static systems ideas owners & TLs/CTHs
  • The role would also need to drive latest technology & methods implementation in coding/tool development domain, so the tools have a strong base for upgrade in the later years
  • This role will lead and execute all Hot SCR related projects end to end. This will include getting involved at ITO phase and then lead and execute in the OTR phase and work with various stakeholders as required
  • The role will also  require to take hands-on specific REQ tasks on Inlet or Exhaust MLIs to support the projects, team has to execute numerous Aero projects exhaust system scope in addition to HDGT projects.

  • Develop and execute program milestone schedules and engineering resource plans to satisfy customer requirements for all assigned projects
  • Develop and bring forth innovative ideas for future technologies, working with others in the team to bring Patent and IP protection to strengthen our competitiveness through technology.
  • Engage and contribute to ongoing continuous product and process quality improvement initiatives, including improving the maintainability, performance, compliance safety, cost, and reliability of designs through design practices, initiatives, and direct material productivity.
  • Provide technical mentorship to associated engineers in the team in all locations.
  • Provide regular reporting of Static team key process indicators and proactively communicate risk. Partner with Static team Managers to mitigate risk and/or prioritize and inform stakeholders.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Aeronautical engineering)
  • 10+ years of experience in power plant system/equipment engineering
  • Strong background in one or more Static systems accessories design & delivery
  • Good understanding of the design & challenges of the Hot SCR system is important.
  • Good experience with tool development and digitization of engineering design/project execution processes.
  • Proven background & innovative mindset for excelling in understanding & developing products & processes for new technology implementation
  • Ability to work in a global environment & lead projects to closure working with multiple teams outside of current organization
  • Experience in / strong understating of mechanical / fluids modeling and CFD / stress analysis software & methods
  • Knowledge of Carbon capture & decarbonization efforts ongoing in the Power industry
  • Ability to rapidly change directions for multiple concurrent projects based on emergent business priorities
  • Ability to mentor less experienced engineers across a global team environment
  • Effective interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Effective communication skills, oral and written
  • Self-motivated and able to lead the development and drive execute of engineering assignments.
