Job Description

In this role the Systems Engineer performs the end to end Systems engineering activities for various Interiors System products of Collins aerospace with the primary responsibility for the Water System/Lighting System. This includes but not limited to Systems plan generation as per ARP4754A, System requirements definition and management, requirements validation, system architecture design, modeling and simulation analysis, system integration and verification and certification. Work with multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate the technical efforts towards realizing project goals.

Primary Responsibilities

• Technical coordination with the multi-disciplinary team involving electrical, mechanical and software engineers
• Carry out end-to-end systems engineering activities as per ARP 4754 guidelines.
• Proficiency and minimum of 5 years work experience on ARP 4754 process.
• System development and V&V planning
• Capture customer/regulatory/industrial requirements and convert them into system and component requirements.
• Conduct Requirements Management - Requirements elicitation, derivation, decomposition, validation and verification.
• Allocation of design requirements to HW, SW, Process, etc.
• Experience with requirements management tools like DOORS, Polarion ALM.
• Safety analysis of the system architecture and definition of safety requirements as per ARP 4761.
• Model Based Design with MBD tools like Matlab / Simulink for model development and scripting.
• Validation/Correlation of Steady state/dynamic system models
• Preparation of system verification cases and procedures
• System integration and verification
• System qualification planning and coordination with HW/SW teams
• Drive for continuous growth for the self and the associated team members. Coaching and mentoring to develop successors.
• Estimate, track, own and report project technical, cost and schedule aspects for assigned scope of work.

Required Experience And Skills

• 7-10 years of relevant industry experience with at least 5 years as a Systems Engineer in system requirements management, system verification and validation, system modelling of aerospace systems
• Strong problem solving and analytical capability.
• Work experience with ARP 4754, ARP-4761, DO-160 and familiarity with DO-254 and DO-178 Certification standards.
• Matlab/Simulink for model development and scripting.
• DOORS, JAMA, Polarion ALM requirement management tools
• Ability to perform / lead design reviews, non-advocate reviews and project reviews
• Working knowledge of Pneumatic, Hydraulic, Electromechanical/ Electrohydraulic, Control systems
• Strong problem solving and analytical capability.
• BTech/MTech in Mechanical/Aerospace/Electronics/Electrical

Preferred Experience And Skills

• Knowledge of Polarion, JAMA, Teamcenter or Agile tools
• Experience in Embedded HW/SW development
• Knowledge of ARINC and Ethernet protocols
• Experience in thermodynamic cycle/fluid dynamic design, heat transfer device design and/or continuous and discrete process controller design
