Educational Qualifications         

• Bachelor degree in Accounts / Commerce/ Taxation with minimum 4 years’ experience
• Professional accounting (CPA, ACCA) or tax qualification attained from a recognized accounting body are favorable (e.g. Chartered Institute of Taxation, UK).

Skills/Knowledge           

• Proficient use and knowledge of technology, including MS Excel and ERP systems (e.g. SAP, ORACLE);
• Teamwork and organizational skills;
• Sound knowledge about Oman Tax law and VAT law.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; and
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Aviation experience will be an added advantage.
• Proficient in English (Spoken & Written). Knowledge of Arabic or any foreign language would be added advantage
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Good knowledge of HACCP & Food Safety standards
• Aptitude in showing self-initiative and follow through
• Excellent planning, organizing and maintenance skills
• Lean Six Sigma Certification is a plus

Job Description               

• Value Added Tax
• Implementation & Post Implementation stages
• Review Oman VAT law and executive regulations and adopt all rules within the organization.
• Validate the accuracy of draft VAT returns through multiple checks and balances and assist in improving the quality of the VAT return data.
• Liaise with the tax consultant and Oman Tax Authority and obtain clarifications/ directions for the ambiguous areas of VAT.
• Coordinate with the tax consultant & IT consultant, and arrange post implementation VAT trainings across the organization.
• Develop MIS reports relating VAT reporting’s, WHT and income tax.
• Review transactions recorded in various systems and assess the accuracy of recording the VAT in the respective systems.
• Supporting the department manager in implementing the VAT policies and procedures across the organization, this includes driving process efficiencies, quality improvements, and risk minimization strategies related to domestic and regional operations.

Compliance

• Monitoring VAT calendar, including all tax payments, to ensure compliance with the Oman tax authority's deadlines;
• Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns to Oman Tax Authority.
• Liaise with local tax authorities resolve all VAT compliance matters.
• Preparation of VAT balance sheet reconciliation by set datelines;
• Liaising with the finance team in order to collate required VAT data;
• Supporting the audit process and providing support and documents for VAT audits;
• Ensuring invoice compliance and record keeping
• Corporate Taxes and local compliances
• The preparation of annual tax return of Oman and submission to Oman Tax Authority. Ensure to submit the return within strict deadline.
• Liaise with the tax consultant and tax authority for finalization of local tax returns;
• Assist with all the information needed to carry out periodical tax assessments and provide sufficient details to conclude the tax assessments;
• Prepare and submit withholding tax (WHT) returns periodically as required by local statutes. Liaise with the tax authority and obtain WHT certificates as and when required.
• Preparation of excise tax return of the organization and submission to the tax authority. Ensure compliance with strict deadlines.
• Preparation of municipality tax return and submit to the Muscat municipality within deadlines. Ensure settlement of dues and submission of returns.
• Ensure to adhere for any tax compliance which will be imposed by Oman Tax Authority.
