Job Description

Experienced Procurement professional. Executes processes, standards, and operational plans in support of Procurement goals, including RFPs, negotiations, cost accountability, and/or program execution. Authorizes purchase orders, approve payments, and responds to client issues to ensure the procurement process goes smoothly.

Experience: 6 to 9 years

Buyer will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Executes processes, standards, and operational plans in support of Procurement goals, including RFPs, negotiations, cost accountability, and / or program execution.
  • Approves and qualifies vendors to fulfill account needs.
  • Responds to client issues or problems.
  • Authorizes purchase orders and approves payments to ensure the procurement process goes smoothly.
  • Analyzes and reviews price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to provide input on reasonable prices.
  • Prepares and reviews request for proposals (RFP) and bid packages.
  • Analyzes and monitors contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Manage a category of suppliers and associated spend
  • Interact with suppliers to communicate delivery expectations, forecasts, design changes, lead time management, and material expedites or delays to ensure suppliers meet Supplier On Time Delivery (OTD) goals.
  • Drive cost reduction and cost avoidance opportunities.
  • Involved with strategic sourcing team to align negotiations, new supplier selection, and Supply Chain strategy.
  • Review purchase requisitions, place purchase orders, issue change notices, review exception messages to ensure delivery of materials or services as necessary to adhere to production schedules.
  • Use MRP and EOQ skillset for buying appropriate quantities
  • Maintain material master records for assigned materials; ensure accurate PIR records, source lists, and promptly reconcile supplier invoices for payment.
  • Review part consumption characteristics to ensure appropriate planning parameters are maintained.
  • Review and maintain internal/external vendor managed programs, direct ship programs, scheduling agreements and blanket orders.
  • Provide root cause corrective action when needed.
  • Participate and lead continuous improvement opportunities
  • Proactively avoid material shortages
  • Expedite part shortages
  • Review and maintain purchase order date accuracy and maintain MRP accuracy/health
  • Work cross functionally to resolve complaints and clear blocks; trouble-shoot
  • Quote parts with suppliers
  • Source parts with suppliers
  • Coordinate with suppliers on return to vendor (RTV) parts
  • Proactively drive root cause corrective action (RCCA) with the supply base
  • Drive tail spend management strategies
  • Provide real time status on key parts shortages and/or expedites

Minimum requirements:

  • Education requirements: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Job description: Tactical Senior Site Buyer.
  • Preferred skills: negotiations, familiarity with SAP / MACOLA MRP systems
  • Preferred experience: SAP / Macola ERP system experience; 5 or more years of previous site buyer experience; metals/machining / EMS category experience
