Job Description

This position is for a professional with sound technical knowledge and experience in the areas of design, development and manufacturing of thermoplastic composite products for Aerospace structural applications. The person is also expected to possess knowledge on manufacturing methods, materials and material characterization techniques used in thermoplastic composite structures. The person is expected to drive initiatives related to new designs and optimizing existing products using thermoplastic composite design solutions and applying related design philosophy. 

  • Has strong design fundamentals and working experience in design and product development of aircraft structural components
  • Has strong experience with applying thermoplastic design philosophy and awareness of relevant industry standards/principles
  • Possesses knowledge of thermoplastic and thermosetting composite design philosophy, materials, material characterization techniques, manufacturing methods & tooling philosophy, welding and joining methods etc
  • Product design experience with both metallic and composite materials and understanding of respective manufacturing techniques is essential
  • Be able to apply engineering judgement and principles to come up with designs meeting the criteria for cost, weight, manufacturability, producibility, assembly, serviceability etc.
  • Having experience in being part of full life-cycle of product development and realization of product is a strong advantage
  • Any experience in design optimization exercises by redesigning structures designed with conventional metallic/composite designs into thermoplastic composite structures is preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and application of problem-solving tools is very essential
  • Being well-versed with 3D CAD tool, Catia is preferred
  • Being comfortable with customer communication (both verbal and written) and possessing strong customer-savvy skills is highly preferred
  • To be passionate, enthusiastic and a natural go-getter
  • Bachelors or master’s degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical engineering with 10 to 15 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in Aerospace OEM is a definite advantage
  • Knowledge of Aircraft structures, Nacelle Systems
  • Good knowledge and working experience of using CAD and PLM applications
  • Experience or trainings received in the metallic or plastic or composite manufacturing shops
  • Any industry certifications in the relevant domain
  • Exposure to the process of filing inventions/patents is an advantage
