Job Description

Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

  • Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
  • Lead RCA investigations for the field events / distress and prepare action plan in collaboration with module teams
  • Ensure hardware delivery of parts owned by addressing non-conformance at manufacturing or deviations from filed findings.
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors/ Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • 10+ years of work experience on Mechanical Design of Gas Turbine components. 
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing timing and quality of outcomes. 
  • Ability to manage priority tradeoffs to optimize program deliveries. 
  • Deep Functional Expertise in relevant engineering discipline and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization both internally and externally
  • Experience with GE Aviation engineering design methodology & hardware knowledge of hot frames/structures/Casings
  • Understanding of manufacturing & inspection processes, repair methods
  • Adaptability to leverage Digital & Analytics tools to drive data driven decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships and networks both within GE & with Suppliers
  • Demonstrated leadership in problem solving with ownership
  • Excellent leadership skills with strong oral and written communication skills
