Who we are and what we're looking for:

Okulo Aerospace is an early-stage stealth startup based out of Bengaluru, Karnataka. Combining renewable energy and precision engineering, we are currently developing solar-electric hybrid aerial platforms that will revolutionize aerial data acquisition. We envision a world where drones can fly continuously without having to land at all and we are currently in the first step towards that realizing that vision. Founded by alumni from Purdue University (USA) and NIT-Trichy (India) with extensive research background and with a vision to nurture great teams and develop solutions for hard problems, we are looking at joining hands with the next generation of talented individuals looking to embark on this exciting journey. Are you an experienced structural engineer looking to make a meaningful impact that you just can’t find in legacy aerospace companies? Have you ever dreamed of crafting a clean-sheet aerial vehicle system? Would you like to deliver a significant percentage of key structural elements for a new product design? If so, you might be a good fit for the team in a Structural Engineer role here at Okulo Aerospace

Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analysis using standard FEA packages. Optimise designs based on the results from FEA analysis.
  • Conduct hand calculations of basic aircraft structures (wings, spars, etc.).
  • Work with the manufacturing team to realise designed structural elements.
  • Devise testing methodologies to validate and verify the results obtained

Basic Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Masters/PhD in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (or) Bachelors in Aerospace/Mechanical with experience of a minimum of 3 years.
  • Proved experience in FEA model preparation (GFEM/DFEM) and stress analysis.
  • Composite FEA knowledge and experience.
  • Fatigue analysis and/or aeroelastic analysis (optional)
  • Knowledge of structural design as per aviation certification standards (optional).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams, to ambitious deadlines, and under minimal supervision.
  • A highly motivated and focused individual with excellent communication skills.
  • Possess excellent technical writing skills and create documentation for design reviews and

company records.

Desired Skills:

  • Should have strong fundamentals in:
  • Aircraft structures: Hand calculations of aircraft structural components such as spars and ribs. Best practices for optimising aircraft structures.
  • Finite Element Analysis: Background in the theory of FEA and its applications in FEA solvers. Static Structural analysis experience/projects. Stress analysis report formulation: Experience in creating technical reports of FEA analyses. Certification report preparation is preferable.
  • Fatigue analysis/Aeroelastic analysis: Basic knowledge in FEA analysis of aeroelastic systems and/or FEA based fatigue analysis (HCF/LCF/LCO).
  • Experimental validation of structural components with FEA analysis.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ or Python.
