Job Description

The Supervisor Calibration is responsible for ensuring that GAL’s equipment - used for aircraft maintenance - are properly calibrated and in top operational condition, and that all the day-to-day activities of all calibration technicians are in full compliance with configured reference data as well as applicable technical guidelines, standards, and regulations.

Will also be responsible for:

  • Implements the day-to-day operations assigned for the calibration department to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures
  • Schedules and plans calibration activities for subordinates, ensuring the optimum allocation of manpower and resources so that maintenance targets are achieved.
  • Plans sequence of testing and calibration activities for equipment according to blueprints, technical manuals, and other specifications to ensure equipment is operating effectively.
  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance of test and calibration equipment to ensure minimized equipment-related downtime and out-of-tolerance conditions in all areas of the laboratory.
  • Collects and maintains the latest version of technical/ original equipment manufacturer (OEM) manuals to ensure any updates or advances in calibration techniques are available for reference
  • Monitors calibration plans, and notifies and follows-up with end-users when equipment is due for calibration.
  • Liaises with supply chain to ensure equipment are sent to manufacturers/ vendors and/or international laboratories for external calibration in a timely manner.
  • Supports internal and external audits of the calibration laboratory to ensure the implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Provides support by maintaining and providing the required data, and performing corrective action to resolve non-conformities brought out during audits.
  • Directly supports the effective management and development of calibration policies to ensure a compliant operation.
  • Initiates selection and purchasing process for appropriate calibration standards and equipment during
  • Adds human capital capabilities to the laboratory through recruitment.
  • Organizes and supervises the activities and work of direct reports to ensure that all work within a specific team is completed to the required standards and in line with GAL operating policies and procedures.
  • Provides on-the-job training, constructive feedback, and performance reviews to subordinates to support their overall development.
  • When calibration problems are encountered, acts as a technical expert to an appropriate level to ensure the timely resolution of issues and minimization of downtime.
  • Supports and develops opportunities to encourage knowledge and skill transfer to the UAE National workforce.
  • Regularly reports on the performance of the assigned tasks and their results.
  • Prepares statements and reports timely and accurately to meet GAL and departmental requirements, policies and standards.
  • On an on-going basis, examines current operational processes to identify and implement potential operational improvements that will positively impact upon service, safety, environmental and cost performance
  • Ensures compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the Maintenance Operations at the Facility to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality aircraft maintenance service and a responsible environmental attitude
  • Sponsors opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programs and projects that reflect international best practices and changes in the competitive environment.
  • Ensures direct reports adhere to and support all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls, promoting employee safety, legislative compliance and to promote a responsible environmental attitude.
  • Implements the day-to-day operations assigned for the section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties or assignments as directed

QUALIFICATION

  •  - Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace maintenance or equivalent

EXPERIENCE

  •  - Minimum of 5 years’ experience with similar company, of which at least 1 years supervising maintenance operations with an airbase maintenance program or an MRO facility for military aircrafts.
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance processes and procedures
  • Understanding of OEM maintenance manuals
