Job Description

The Supervisor GSE is responsible for supervising, monitoring and overseeing maintenance and repair activities of aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) technicians performing team to ensure they produce timely and quality work that is performed in accordance with applicable technical orders, standards, and regulations.

Will also be responsible for:

  • Implements the day-to-day operations assigned for the GSE section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures.
  • Supervises activities related to adjusting, repairing, or replacing of defective GSE components based on analysis of test results and ensure process follows blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents
  • Plans and organizes GSE maintenance activities and monitor procedure to ensure standards are maintained.
  • Supervises and approves testing on GSE under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and serviceability, using test equipment and ensures compliance to standard policies and procedures.
  • Supervises scheduled service and maintenance tasks to GSE and advices on problems maintaining, servicing GSE and related equipment.
  • Initiates and supervises unscheduled maintenance, repair and troubleshooting tasks assigned to GSE, components, and related equipment and ensure the proper implementation of procedures.
  • Supervises and approves testing of repaired equipment and systems according to standards and procedures and approves the process before signing off and ensure compliance of safety and quality standards.
  • Reviews and signs off maintenance forms, aircraft records, automated maintenance data systems, and historical reports as required to ensure complete documentation and sign off for the supervisor’s approval.
  • Assesses issues and problems raised by technical team and addresses the problem with an adequate solution based on experience and best practice and supervises execution to ensure resolving issues.
  • Reports and escalates problems and issues that need higher level of interventions and coordinates with manager to ensure the right solution framework is selected to initiate execution.
  • Schedules and plans daily maintenance activities for subordinates, ensuring the optimum allocation of manpower and resources so that airframe maintenance targets are achieved.
  • Reviews work orders received for maintenance and ensures the completion of all required information in order to ensure smooth execution of all work orders.
  • Establishes and sustains relationships with customers and ensures they understand the value and quality of maintenance they are receiving.
  • Liaises with customers to anticipate and address any issues related to aircraft maintenance and repair.
  • Ensures material, equipment and spare parts availability for all types of overhauls and maintenance processes to ensure reliability of operation.
  • Monitors the physical condition of all equipment’s the jobholder is accountable for so that equipment is maintained in a suitable condition and any maintenance can be carried out in a planned manner.
  • Provides on-the-job training and coaching to technicians and senior technicians on basic and complex tasks and procedures to support their development.
  • Acts as a technical expert of GSE technician’s team in addressing complex GSE maintenance issues by illustrating the right procedure to address the issues to ensure quality maintenance and repair operations.
  • Assesses skills level and moves technicians to tasks where there is an improvement opportunity and ensures they receive the right on job training.
  • Organizes and supervises the activities and work of direct reports ensuring that all work within a specific team is completed to the required standards and in line with GAL operating policies and procedures.
  • Provides on-the-job training and constructive feedback to subordinates to support their overall development.
  • On an on-going basis, examines current operational processes to identify and implement potential operational improvements that will positively impact upon service, safety, environmental and cost performance
  • Ensures compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the Maintenance Operations at the Facility to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality aircraft maintenance service and a responsible environmental attitude
  • Sponsors opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programs and projects that reflect international best practices and changes in the competitive environment.
  • Ensures direct reports adhere to and support all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls, promoting employee safety, legislative compliance and to promote a responsible environmental attitude.
  • Implements the day-to-day operations assigned for the section to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties or assignments as directed.

QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace maintenance with skill level 7 - 9 or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 8 - 10 years’ experience in an aerospace maintenance and aircraft operating environment, with at least 1 years in a similar position.
    • Knowledge of basic maintenance processes and procedures
    • Understanding of aircraft GSE, parts and functions
    • Understanding of OEM maintenance manuals
