As a Technical Author, person will be responsible for creating and maintaining the documentation required to support the use, maintenance, and servicing of customer products.
Skills and Qualifications:
A background in Engineering demonstrated through a HND or above in Electronic Engineering or an associated subject
An understanding of Electronic Hardware development
An understanding of Software products, development and lifecycle, with the ability to understand the principles of software code and hold conversations as necessary
Confident in the use of FrameMaker, WebWorks Publisher, Adobe Illustrator and any bitmap editing software
Familiarity with cloud platform software, for example, KVM and ESXi
Knowledge of DITA and experience in the use of an XML editing tool such as OxygenXML
Proficient in the creation of complex documentation to support an engineering readership
Competent in the creation and editing of drawings, layout of documents and the creation of text to a professional standard
Possess a diplomatic and sensitive approach to eliciting information
Ability to solve various issues using a variety of methods and techniques
Proven ability to work with very little input
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient collaboration and team working skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strong productive relationships
The ability to work within multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines, both independently and as part of a team
Meticulous, with a very high attention to detail
Extensive communication skills, both verbal and written
Responsibilities:
Obtain technical information from subject matter experts, production personnel and other sources
Generate well-presented, grammatically correct, and concise documentation, in accordance with the corporate standard and agreed project schedules
Document assembly and disassembly procedures using Engineering drawings
Generate illustrations and photos, annotated, as necessary
Organise the approval, issuing, filing and (when required) printing of documentation
Support sales, engineering, and production staff with documentation
Support the development of standards and working practices
Responsible for the development of a complete suite of documentation for a product, either alone or collaboratively.
