Job Description

The Onshore Wind Engineering Aero and Acoustics team is responsible for wind turbine aerodynamics, blade aeroacoustics and turbine acoustics. As Acoustics Technical Leader, you will provide technical leadership, expertise and mentoring in blade aeroacoustics, drive train noise, sound propagation and farm noise management.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the acoustics team and support the team on their product and technology development project execution, mentor and coach the Acoustics team
  • Provide focused support on key projects where technical innovation/breakthrough is needed and make complex technical decisions that are considered high risk or will have significant impact on scope, schedule, or the segment relationship.
  • Support the development of the Acoustics Technology Roadmap 
  • Expand the team’s expertise in both aeroacoustics and vibroacoustics, identify expertise gaps work towards closing the gaps
  • Team initiative / culture - Develop and lead specific strategic and/or continuous improvement initiatives to drive improved partnership, project management, design rigor and lean culture 

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in wind turbine operability and design
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineers 
  • Track record of solving tough technical problems
  • Fluency in English

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated experience in wind turbine rotor aeroacoustics and aerodynamics
  • Demonstrated experience in wind tunnel aeroacoustics testing and component acoustics testing
  • Demonstrated experience in wind turbine noise field testing
  • Demonstrated experience in aeroacoustics and vibroacoustics methods
  • Demonstrated experience in product design through the full design cycle including product validation and fleet support experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading major technology breakthroughs
  • PhD or Master in Mechanical, Wind Systems or Aerospace Engineering
